ON A TRIP TO TEXAS FROM OREGON WE HAD A BLOWOUT ON RR OF OUR 12000 LB FIFTH WHEEL TRAILER. HAD IT REPLACED IN AUSTIN THINKING NOTHING OF THE INCIDENT. ON THE TRIP BACK I NOTICED TWO LEFT SIDE TIRES WITH BULGE IN SIDEWALLS OF BOTH TIRES AND SEVERE WEAR PATTERN ON OUTER EDGE OF TIRE. INFLATED TO 80 LBS, CHECKED AT MOST STOPS. 50 DEGREES, DRY ROADS. 60 MPH CONSTANT. WENT TO GOODYEAR DEALER IN TUSCON AZ. AND HAD THESE TWO PLUS THE REMAINING (VISUALLY GOOD ONE) REPLACED. 07V121000 · Equipment:Recreational Vehicle/Trailer

Reported: 2007-03-21 (March 21, 2007)

CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES, TRUCK CAMPERS, FIFTH WHEEL AND TRAVEL TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH A TWO-DOOR REFRIGERATOR, MANUFACTURED BY THE DOMETIC CORPORATION, MAY HAVE A DEFECT IN THE BOILER TUBE. PRESSURIZED COOLANT SOLUTION COULD BE RELEASED INTO AN AREA WHERE AN IGNITION SOURCE (GAS FLAME) IS PRESENT.

Consequence: RELEASE OF COOLANT UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS COULD IGNITE AND RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy: WESTERN RV WILL BE WORKING WITH DOMETIC IN ORDER TO REPAIR THESE REFRIGERATORS (PLEASE SEE 06E076). DOMETIC WILL REPAIR THESE REFRIGERATORS BY INSTALLING A SECONDARY BURN HOUSING, A THERMAL FUSE, AND A MELT FUSE FREE OF CHARGE. DOMETIC HAS RETAINED STERICYCLE INC. TO MANAGE THIS CAMPAIGN. STERICYCLE WILL ASSIST YOU IN LOCATING DEALERSHIPS OR SERVICE CENTERS AND WILL PROVIDE ASSISTANCE WITH SCHEDULING OF APPOINTMENTS.
