Reported: 1986-04-01 (April 1, 1986)
TRUCKS WERE BUILT WITH HEADLAMPS WIRING HARNESSES WHICH MAY HAVE THE "UPPER BEAM"/"LOWER BEAM" WIRES REVERSED. THIS CAUSES THE TRUCKS NOT TO BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH FMVSS 108. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: LAMPS WOULD USE THE UPPER BEAM FILAMENT WHEN OPERATED IN THE LOWER BEAM MODE. THIS MAY CAUSE VISUAL PROBLEMS TO THE ONCOMING DRIVER AND MAY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT.
Remedy: REPAIR HEADLAMP WIRING TO ASSURE COMFORMANCE WITH FMVSS 108.
