DT: THE CALLER REPORTED A FAILURE OF POP UP CAMPER THREE WEEKS AGO AND GOT A RECALL YESTERDAY. SHE SAID THE DEALER HAD THE CAMPER FOR THREE WEEKS AND HAS DONE NOTHING TO FIX IT. DEALER SAID THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX IT. MANUFACTURER SAID THEY WILL SEND THE PARTS WHEN THEY GET THEM. CALLER WAS TOLD THREE TIMES THE PARTS WILL BE SHIPPED BUT THEY HAVE NOT DONE IT YET.*AK

DT: 2005 VIKING LEGEND. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED NHTSA RECALL 05V364000 CONCERNING ROOF AND PILLARS FAILURE ON AUGUST 20, 2005. THE LETTER STATED THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO DEALER WITHIN 10 DAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. THEY KNEW NOTHING OF THE RECALL. ONCE THEY WERE INFORMED OF THE RECALL THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THE PART WAS ON ORDER. NOW THE PART WAS NOT ON ORDER, BUT, A PROP WAS BEING SENT UNTIL THE PART COULD BE OBTAINED. SHE FOUND THIS OUT THIS MORNING WHEN SHE CALLED TO CHECK THE STATUS …

Reported: 2005-08-19 (August 19, 2005)
ON CERTAIN CAMPING TRAILERS, THE INNOVATIVE DESIGN TECHNOLOGIES ROOF LIFT SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE AND MAY FAIL ALLOWING THE ROOF TO COLLAPSE UNEXPECTEDLY.
Consequence: SHOULD THIS OCCUR, THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR PERSONAL INJURY TO ANY OCCUPANTS INSIDE THE TRAILER AT THE TIME OF FAILURE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE NECESSARY PARTS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 27, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT THEIR LOCAL DEALERS. IF UNABLE TO FIND A LOCAL DEALER, CONTACT VIKING AT 1-800-239-6157.
