LEASED A NEW 2000 TOYOTA SOLARA CONVERTIBLE IN JULY 2000. TOOK CAR FOR ALL REQUIRED MAINTNEANCE CHECKS. AFTER ONLY 20,000 MILES WAS INFORMED THAT ALL 4 TIRES WERE COMPLETELY UNSAFE FOR DRIVING. IF I HAD NOT HAD CAR SERVICED I WOULD HAVE DRIVEN NEW CAR AND WAS IN DANGER OF A FATAL ACCIDENT. TIRES USUALLY ARE SAFE AT SUCH A SHORT AMOUNT OF MILES. I WANT TO REPORT THIS TO YOU SO THAT OTHERS ARE ADVISED TO CHECK THEIR TOYOTA BRIDGESTONE TIRES. IT COULD SAVE THEIR LIVES. ALSO I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE HAVE BEEN MANY ACCIDENTS DUE TO THESE …

CAR WAS PARKED ON A FLAT SURFACE, IDLING WITH GEARSHIFT IN THE "PARK" POSITION; DRIVER STEPPED OUT OF VEHICLE AND WALKED IN FRONT OF CAR. CAR SURGED FORWARD AND PINNED DRIVER AGAINST WALL. RESIDENT OF HOUSE CAME TO ASSIST AND COULD NOT GET GEARSHIFT OUT OF THE PARK POSITION - YET CAR CONTINUED TO SURGE FORWARD, CAUSING FURTHER INJURY TO PINNED PARTY.

PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE LEAKING. NAR 07/28/2003.*MR THE VEHICLE SUNROOF LEAKED. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT SERVICE STATION SEVERAL TIMES FOR REPAIR BUT THE LEAK RECURS. THE VEHICLE TAIL LIGHT WAS INOPERATIVE. THE DEALER CLEANED THE CONNECTOR AND REPLACED THE BULB. THERE WAS A MUSTY ODOR COMING FORM THE A/C DUCT. THE DEALER ADDED FRIDGE FRESH. *NM

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. DUE TO IMPROPER HEAT TREATMENT, THE REAR AXLE MAY NOT HAVE ADEQUATE STRENGTH IN SOME AREAS.
Consequence: AFTER EXTENDED USE OF THE VEHICLE, THE REAR AXLE SHAFTS COULD FAIL OR BREAK.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE REAR AXLE HUB ASSEMBLIES.
