MY TRANSMISSION ON MY SUZUKI BURGMAN 650 KEEPS GOING OUT. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN ABOUT EVERY 12 TO 15K MILES; WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THIS LAST TIME IT HAPPENED AT ABOUT 5K. THE SCOOTER DOESN'T SHIFT OUT OF SECOND GEAR. IT FIRST STARTS WITH INTERMITTENT GEAR SHIFTING PROBLEMS THEN GETS SEVERE AND STAYS IN FIRST OR SECOND. I'VE HAD IT IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES NOW IN JUST OVER ONE YEAR. EVERY TIME ITS BEEN IN THE SHOP, ITS BEEN THERE FOR ON AVERAGE AT LEAST 2 MONTHS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SUZUKI AN650 BURGMAN SCOOTER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED A FEW MOMENTS LATER. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH HIMSELF, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V372000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) FOR THE 2003 AND 2004 MODEL YEARS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. MOTORCYCLE FAILS TO START. DETERMINED THAT THE CONTACTS IN THE SWITCH MELT AND FAIL TO MAKE CONTACT. SIMILAR CONDITION EXISTED IN THE START BUTTON THAT RESULTED IN HEADLIGHTS NOT WORKING. FORCED TO BYPASS SWITCH TO MAKE HEADLIGHTS WORK.
