Owner report 10403181 · 2011-05-20 (May 20, 2011)

THE VEHICLE I AM REPORTING IS A 2009 SUZUKI BURGMAN 650 SCOOTER. IT IS THE LARGEST SCOOTER SOLD IN THE COUNTRY AND IS OFTEN USED AS A TOURING BIKE. THE BIKE HAS 8500 MILES SO IT IS FAIRLY NEW. ON SATURDAY, APRIL 2ND, 2011, I WAS RIDING ON A SECLUDED ROAD, EXCEPT FOR TRAFFIC, FROM GALVESTON TEXAS TO FREEPORT TEXAS. I WAS ABOUT 80 MILES FROM HOME. IT'S A TWO LANE ROAD WITH NO SHOULDER AND DRAINAGE DITCH ON EACH SIDE OF THE ROAD. TRAVELING AT 60 MPH, I STARTED TO FEEL A LOSS OF POWER, THEN THE ENGINE BEGAN TO MISS OUT AND WITHOUT ANY OTHER NO…

Owner report 10213695 · 2008-01-04 (January 4, 2008)

AFTER COMPLETING ALL RECOMMENDED SERVICES BY THE DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION DID NOT ENGAGE AND I WAS LEFT STRANDED ALONG SIDE OF A RODE. MY CONCERN IS HAD THIS HAPPENED ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY TRAVELLING AT A GREATER SPEED; I COULD HAVE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE OR BEEN REAR-ENDED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE ABRUPTLY STOPPED AND LOST THE ABILITY TO MOVE UNDER POWER. ONLY MEANS OF MOVING THE VEHICLE WAS TO PHYSICALLY PUSH THE VEHICLE. *CN

Owner report 10234886 · 2008-07-19 (July 19, 2008)

MY TRANSMISSION ON MY SUZUKI BURGMAN 650 KEEPS GOING OUT. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN ABOUT EVERY 12 TO 15K MILES; WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THIS LAST TIME IT HAPPENED AT ABOUT 5K. THE SCOOTER DOESN'T SHIFT OUT OF SECOND GEAR. IT FIRST STARTS WITH INTERMITTENT GEAR SHIFTING PROBLEMS THEN GETS SEVERE AND STAYS IN FIRST OR SECOND. I'VE HAD IT IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES NOW IN JUST OVER ONE YEAR. EVERY TIME ITS BEEN IN THE SHOP, ITS BEEN THERE FOR ON AVERAGE AT LEAST 2 MONTHS. THE LONGEST THE BIKE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP WAS FOR THREE MONTHS. EFFECTIVELY THE BIKE …

SUDDEN FAILURE OF BRAKES WHILE RIDING ON CITY STREET. INVESTIGATION BY DEALER ISOLATED IT TO THE ABS HYDRAULIC UNIT FAILING "CLOSED" AND PREVENTING PRESSURE FROM HANDLE/MASTER CYLINDER REACHING THE WHEELS. FAILED JUNE 2016. REPAIRED 7 JULY 2016. BIKE BOUGHT IN 2013 FROM ORIGINAL OWNER. FLUIDS CHANGED AT THAT TIME BUT WERE FRESH WHEN CHANGED. BRAKE FLUID WAS HONEY COLORED AND NOT CLEAR. ONLY FRONT BRAKE FAILED. REAR WAS STILL OPERATIONAL.
