1999 VOLVO CONVENTIONAL TIRE BROKE OFF TRAILER. *TS THE 2005 STOUGHTON TRAILER TIRE ROLLED THROUGH THE MEDIAN AND STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE. THAT VEHICLE JACKNIFED AND RAN OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CAME TO REST IN A DITCH (OHIO TRAFFIC CRASH REPORT). *NM

Reported: 2005-11-03 (November 3, 2005)
ON CERTAIN 53' ALUMINUM SMOOTH SIDE VAN TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH TUTHILL TRAILER SUSPENSIONS, MODELS 20/22 AND RS3162. THE BEAM/AXLE PIVOT CONNECTION JOINT IS MIS-ALIGNED CAUSING EXCESSIVE PLAY WITH THE TRAILER ALLOWING THE TRAILER TO WANDER.
Consequence: A VEHICLE CRASH CAN OCCUR SHOULD THE TRAILER WANDER WITHOUT NOTICE.
Remedy: STOUGHTON IS WORKING WITH TUTHILL TO NOTIFY THE OWNERS OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES AND PROVIDE FREE REMEDY. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TUTHILL AT 800-753-0025 OR STOUGHTON AT 1-608-873-2500.
