2022 Ram PROMASTER: complaints, problems and recalls

A big chunk of tread separated from the tire while on a 3000 mile trip. We believe it occurred when we were nearly home and were lucky that there was no blowout. There was no damage to the tire that we are aware of but it could have been very dangerous situation.

The contact owns a 2022 Ram Promaster 1500. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, another vehicle overtook his vehicle and the vehicle experienced phantom braking. The Forward Collision Avoidance warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the odometer indicated that he was driving 15 MPH while he was driving 60 MPH. Electronic parking break automatically applies when the vehicle is in gear (drive/reverse) when beginning to drive up or down slopes. This limits drivers ability to control the vehicle when driving up or down hilly terrain. Problem has repeatedly occurred but dealer was not able to reproduce issue. There are no warning light or messages with this issue.

Speedometer units and units used to set cruise control randomly change from MPH to km/h occasionally when the vehicle is started. No safety risk. Problem has occurred multiple times but dealer was not able to reproduce. There are no warning lamp associated with this issue.

I'd like to report a safety issue with the RAM PROMASTER 3500 chassis. Ours is a Winnebago Solis PX Campervan. The sliding van side door is often impossible to open from the inside. There is a plastic lever that doesn't catch and is ineffective. I've been locked in many times after pulling and pulling on it and when the front seats are turned around for camping it's difficult to use the front doors to exit. Is intelligent speed assist implemented backward in the new Ram Promaster 3500? I attached a screenshot of the owners manual page describing how it should be working. I have experience several instances of the van automatically slamming on the brakes when traveling down the highway when the van recognizes a 25 mph speed limit sign for an off ramp. Reported: 2022-12-22 (December 22, 2022)

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022 Ram Promaster Chassis Cab and incomplete vehicles equipped with an analog rearview camera. The analog rearview camera is the incorrect type of camera and cannot be installed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Consequence: An inoperative rearview camera can reduce the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will supply a digital rearview camera, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 7, 2023. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is ZC5

Reported: 2024-02-22 (February 22, 2024)

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Ram Promaster vehicles. The driver seat belt warning light and audible chime may not activate as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Consequence: A malfunctioning seat belt warning system can result in improper seat belt use, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the driver seat belt buckle as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 9, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 02B.

Reported: 2024-03-14 (March 14, 2024)

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) (Stellantis) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Ram ProMaster vehicles. The wiring harness may have a poor connection, which can cause the left taillight and left turn signal to become inoperative. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Consequence: An inoperative left turn signal may not notify other drivers of a turning vehicle, and an inoperative left taillight can reduce the vehicle's visibility to other drivers. Both scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the harness, as necessary free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 20, 2025. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 21B.

Reported: 2024-06-06 (June 6, 2024)

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Ram Promaster vehicles. The vehicles are missing a side door beam, and the tire placard contains incorrect seating capacity information. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 214, "Side Impact Protection" and 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

Consequence: A missing side door beam may not provide adequate occupant protection in a crash, increasing the risk of injury. Incorrect seating capacity information can result in an improperly loaded vehicle, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will install a door beam and apply an overlay label, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 1, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 53B.

Reported: 2024-06-13 (June 13, 2024)

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Dodge Durango, 2021-2023 Chrysler Pacifica, Jeep Grand Cherokee L, 2022 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, Chrysler Voyager, 2022-2023 Jeep Compass, Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer, and Ram Promaster vehicles. The radio software may prevent the rearview image from displaying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Consequence: A rearview camera image that does not display decreases the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will update the radio software or the software will be OTA, "Over-The-Air," free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning July 9, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's numbers for this recall are 66B and 79B.

Reported: 2025-05-21 (May 21, 2025)

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022-2025 Ram ProMaster vehicles. A software error in the security gateway module may cause the rearview camera image not to display. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Consequence: A rearview image that does not display reduces the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will update the security gateway module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 12, 2025. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 40C.

Reported: 2025-10-23 (October 23, 2025)

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2026 Ram ProMaster vehicles. The electrical circuit for the radiator fan may overheat.

Consequence: Electrical circuits that overheat increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the cooling fan module and fuse. In addition dealers will provide an addendum for the manual and label for the power distribution center. Some interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed December 11, 2025. Some owner notification letters were mailed beginning December 11, 2025. Additional owner notification letters were mailed in January, March, and June 2026. Remaining owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 2026. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's numbers for this recall are 67C, B3C, and C9C. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning October 30, 2025.

Reported: 2025-12-17 (December 17, 2025)

Rollx Vans (Rollx) is recalling certain GMC Yukon, Sierra, Chevrolet Express 2500, Ford Transit, E-250, Toyota Sienna, Sienna Hybrid, Honda Odyssey, Chrysler Town and Country, Voyager, Pacifica, Dodge Grand Caravan, and Ram Promaster vehicles equipped with QRT-Deluxe and QRT-Max wheelchair restraints. Please refer to Rollx's recall report for specific model year information. The retractors may not lock, preventing the wheelchair from being properly secured.

Consequence: An unsecured wheelchair can move during transit, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Rollx will work with Q'Straint to inspect and replace the retractors as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 5, 2026. Owners may contact Rollx's customer service at 1-800-956-6668.
