ON APRIL 11, 2018, I WAS DRIVING MY BRAND NEW 2018 NISSAN ROGUE. 2018 NISSAN ROGUE SV PURCHASED EARLY MARCH 2018. CURRENTLY HAS LESS THAN 1,700 MILES ON IT. THREE TIMES IN LESS THAN THREE WEEKS, THE AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM HAS ENGAGED WHILE DRIVING DOWN A MAJOR ROADWAY. EACH TIME, THE WARNING LIGHTS AND DASHBOARD HAVE FLASHED AND BEEPED. ONLY THE FRONT PASSENGER BRAKE HAS ENGAGED, RESULTING IN A MAJOR "GRINDING" NOISE AND A SERIOUS JERK TO THE RIGHT. THE EMERGENCY BRAKING ENGAGES WITHOUT REASON. THIS HAS LED TO 2 NEAR MISSES. ONCE THE CAR JUST STOPPED IN THE ROAD. I THIOUGHT IT MIGHT HAVE MISINTERPRETED A SNOW PILE. THEN, DRIVING OVER A TRAIN CROSSING, THE CAR JUST STOPPED. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET IT MOVING BEFORE A TRAIN CAME. VERY SCARY! WHEN I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THEY WERE NOT VERY CONCERNED. THEY THOUGHT THERE WOULD BE A SOFTWARE FIX IN A FEW WEEKS AND I SHOULD JUST SHUT OFF THE EMERGENCY BRAKING FEATURE UNTIL THEN! I PAID EXTRA FOR THIS FEATURE THAT IS MOST LIKELY…

Recall history

3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

19V654000 · Back Over Prevention: Sensing System: Camera

Reported: 2019-09-12 (September 12, 2019)

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Nissan Altima, Armada, Frontier, Kicks, Leaf, Maxima, Murano, NV, NV200, Pathfinder, Rogue, Rogue Sport, Sentra, Titan, Titan Diesel, Versa Note and Versa Sedan vehicles, as well as Infiniti Q50, Q60, QX30 and QX80 vehicles. Additionally included are 2019 Nissan GT-R and Taxi and Infiniti QX50, QX60, Q70, Q70L vehicles. The back-up camera and display settings can be adjusted such that the rear view image is no longer visible and the system will retain that setting the next time the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Consequence: The lack of an image in the back-up camera display increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Nissan will notify owners in phases, having dealers update the back-up camera settings software, free of charge. The recall began November 11, 2019 and all affected VINs should be activated. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669 or INFINITI customer service at 1-800-662-6200.

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Rogue Hybrid vehicles. Contact with the Electronic Control Module (ECM) bracket may damage the engine harness, causing a blown fuse.

Consequence: A blown fuse may cause an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will install a harness protector cover, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 16, 2021. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is R21B6.

23V093000 · Electrical System:Ignition:Anti-Theft:Immobilizer/Proximity:Key/Sender

Reported: 2023-02-16 (February 16, 2023)

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2014-2020 Rogue and 2017-2022 Rogue Sport vehicles equipped with a jackknife style ignition key. The jackknife key may collapse into a folded position while driving.

Consequence: Driver contact with a key in the collapsed position could inadvertently shut off the vehicle while driving, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, if the vehicle shuts off while driving, the air bags may not deploy in a crash as intended, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will insert a spacer into the key slot of the jackknife key, free of charge. Interim notification letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed March 29, 2023. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 30, 2023. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is R22C5.
