THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY FLICKED ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING. THE CONSUMER IS CONCERNED THAT THIS MAY RESULT IN PREMATURE DEPLOYMENT OR NOT DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR BAG. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THEY COULD NOT GUARANTEE THE AIR BAG REPAIR WOULD CAUSE THE AIR BAG TO FUNCTION IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. *PH *NLM

CONSUMER WAS HAVING A SERIOUS HEADLIGHT PROBLEMS. HEADLIGHTS WERE SO DIM THAT WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT HE VEERED OFF THE ROAD BECAUSE THE ONCOMING VEHICLES COULD BARELY SEE HIM. HE WAS TOLD BY DEALER THAT THE REFLECTOR MATERIAL INSIDE THE HEADLAMPS OVERHEATED AND BURNED OUT. CONSUMER NEEDED HELP TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHTS BECAUSE IT WOULD COST OVER $1000.00, AN D HE DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY. *AK

DT: THE CONTACT'S GRANDSON TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTOMOTIVE SHOP AND THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT OVERNIGHT AND IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT SAID IT WAS SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION. THEY SAID IT STARTED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. NHTSA RECALL 99V124000 WAS ISSUED CONCERNING VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:CRUISE CONTROL. HOWEVER, THE CONSUMER STATED SHE CONTACTED FORD, AND THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. TL*1993 MERCURY MARQUIS. WHILE PARKED IN THE AUTO REPAIR GARAGE, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. AFTER THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED, THE FIRE REPORT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL WAS THE POSSIBLE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. THE SHOP WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED ALONG WITH THE OTHER VEHICLES THAT WERE PRESENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. UPDATED 07/15/08 *BF THE CONSUMER DOES NOT OWN THE VEHICLE, HE WAS DOING REPAIRS.
