AT VARIOUS TIMES WHEN WE DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THE ENGINE WILL NOT RESPOND. UNTIL WE TAP ON THE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES THEN THE ENGINE RPM'S WILL ADVANCE. THIS CONDITION IS VERY HAZARDOUS BECAUSE IF WE ARE TRYING TO MERGE INTO MOVING TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE WILL ONLY MOVE AT ENGINE IDLE SPEED. THIS CONDITION COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS CRASH OR EVEN DEATH AS WE NEVER KNOW WHEN THE VEHICLE WILL FAIL TO ACCELERATE. *TR

I WAS DRIVING THE 2014 KIA SORENTO ON US27 IN CINCINNATI, OHIO (55MPH ZONE) AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE SLOWED (I WASN'T PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL) AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROADWAY. I HAD TO FLOOR THE GAS TO GET IT TO MOVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. THERE WAS A ODOR OF SOMETHING BURNING WHEN I FINALLY GOT OUT OF THE ROAD. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED DURING THE TIME. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO A LOCAL KIA DEALER. THEY SAID IT HAD 5 MAJOR CODES ON DIAGNOSTIC, THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM TH…

RECENTLY I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS PLACING THE VEHICLE IN PARK. I PRESS THE SIDE BUTTON, BUT AM UNABLE TO SHIFT INTO THE PARK POSITION. NOW, I AM UNABLE TO PLACE IN PARK, AND MUST SHUT THE CAR OFF IN NEUTRAL. DOING SO MEANS I AM UNABLE TO REMOVE THE KEYS FROM THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS MOTIONLESS AND MY FOOT WAS FIRMLY ON THE BRAKES. THIS COULD BECOME A MAJOR PROBLEM, NOT ONLY IN THEFTS, BUT ANYWHERE IN PUBLIC THAT YOU MUST PARK IT.

CYBER SECURITY ISSUE: WHEN DRIVER STOPS CAR: DOOR UN-LOCK 100X/DAY, CONSTANT BATTLE FOR SECURITY. DEALER SAYS THERE IS NO WAY TO FIX IT, BUT REALLY THERE IS. SOFTWARE PATCH FROM KIA WOULD ALLOW DEALER WITH SCAN TOOL TO CHANGE PREFERENCES SO THAT THE DOOR LOCKS STAY LOCKED UNTIL USER DETERMINES THAT THE "COAST IS CLEAR" OF CRIMINALS, TERRORISTS, CARJACKERS, KIDNAPPERS, KILLERS, ROBBERS, RAPISTS,ETC THIS MAY SOUND INNOCUOUS BUT THE REALITY IS: IF DRIVER UNLOCKS JUST THE DRIVER DOOR, THE ALL OTHER DOORS INCLUDING TAILGATE UNLOCK MAKING CAR OP…

Recall history

1 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

16V389000 · Latches/Locks/Linkages:Hood:Latch

Reported: 2016-06-01 (June 1, 2016)

Kia Motors Corporation (Kia) is recalling certain model year 2006-2014 Kia Sedona vehicles manufactured from June 15, 2005, through April 04, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the secondary hood latch may bind and remain in the unlatched position when the hood is closed.

Consequence: If the primary latch is inadvertently released and the secondary latch is not engaged, the hood could unexpectedly open while driving, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Remedy: Kia will notify owners and dealers will replace the secondary hood latch or clean and lubricate the latch, depending on the vehicle's location and the condition of the latch. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on July 27, 2016. Owners may contact Kia at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's recall number is SC134.
