The contact owns a 2023 Keystone Cougar. The contact stated that the emergency exit window casing was too long and the inside window glass did not fit evenly. The contact stated that the window casing was unusually wider than the frame unit. The contact received recall NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V169000 (Structure). The recall repair was completed. However, excessive caulking and screws were applied, and the recall repair was not completed proficiently. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. 23V169000 · Structure:Emergency:Escape/Egress/Exit
Reported: 2023-03-16 (March 16, 2023)
Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Cougar travel trailers. These vehicles may have been manufactured without an emergency exit window.
Consequence: Without an emergency exit window, there would not be a second way for occupants to exit the vehicle during an emergency, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect, and replace the window if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 29, 2023. Owners may contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369. Keystone's number for this recall is 23-440.
