Owner report 10523167 · 2013-07-04 (July 4, 2013)

2013 HYUNDAI AZERA WAS PARKED WITH THE WINDOW CRACKED ABOUT AN INCH. A STORM CAME UP AND A SMALL AMOUNT OF WATER WAS BLOWN ONTO THE PASSENGER SEAT. AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF. HYUNDAI DEALER SAID ANY REPAIR IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AS " THE CAR IS NOT DESIGNED TO HAVE WATER INSIDE". I HAVE OWNED OVER 20 CARS AND NEVER HAD ANYTHING LIKE THIS OCCUR EVEN WHEN SOMETHING SPILLED ON SEATS. *TR

Owner report 10525287 · 2013-07-17 (July 17, 2013)

I WAS DRIVING FROM A PARKING LOT, STOPPED AT A FEW STOPPED SIGNS AND TRAFFIC LIGHTS, AND WHEN ENTERING A HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 30 MPH, I NOTICED THE CAR WOULD NOT SPEED UP BEYOND THE SPEED I WAS DRIVING. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT REV UP MORE THAN 1.5K - 2KRPM. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE. STOPPED THE ENGINE AND RESTARTED. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE CAR BUT IT WOULD NOT SPEED UP TO MORE THAN ROUGHLY 10 MPH. I HAD TO PULL TO THE SIDE AGAIN SINCE THERE WERE VEHICLE APPROACHING BEHIND ME. I TRIED TO RESTART THE 3RD TIME, AND THE ENGINE STARTED UP WITH SOME HESITA…

BOUGHT MY HYUNDAI IN FOR PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR AND WAS TOLD ALL MY COMPLAINTS WERE THE WAY THE CAR WAS BUILT AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE ABOUT IT... FIRST MY TRUNK DOESN'T OPEN ALL THE WAY ANSWER BECAUSE THERE IS NO MOTOR BUILT INTO THE TRUNK FOR IT TO OPEN ON THAT MODEL CAR. SECOND WHEN REAR WINDOW IS OPEN IT SOUNDS LIKE THE CAR IS GOING TO FALL APART VERY LOUDLY AND NOISILY BUT THAT IS NORMAL FOR THE WAY IT IS BUILT.. SUGGESTED BY SERVICEMAN EITHER OPEN FRONT WINDOW SO THE NOISE SHOULD LESSON, BUT DID NOT, THEN KEEP REAR WINDOWS CLOSED AT ALL T…

I PURCHASED A NEW 2013 HYUNDAI AZERA. MY WIFE AND I WAS GIVEN A CLASS ON OUR NEW VEHICLE. THE DAY OF OUR PURCHASE MY WIFE AND I NOTICED THE BACK BUMPER WAS EVERY DIRTY, WE THOUGHT. THE BACK BUMPER WAS COVERED WITH BLACK CARBON THAT CAME FROM THE EXHAUST THAT ALSO HAD CARBON AS WELL INSIDE AND AROUND THE OUTSIDE TIPS. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASE THE CAR. THEY ASK WHAT GRADE GAS DID WE PUT IN THE CAR? I EXPLAIN THAT WE WOULD NOT PUT FUEL IN THE CAR AND THAT THEY FILLED THE CAR WITH FUEL. AND EXPLAINED THAT WE HAD JUST LEFT THE…

THERE IS HEAVY BLACK CARBON BUILDUP ON THE TAILPIPES AND REAR OF MY AZERA. THE HYUNDAI DEALER SAID IT IS NORMAL DUE TO THE TYPE OF CATALYTIC CONVERTER THEY USE. MY LEXUS MECHANIC (OUR OTHER CAR) SAID IT PROBABLY A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL TO AIR RATIO THE CAR IS USING. *TR

WHEN I START CAR, IN DAYLIGHT, THE RADIO/GPS SCREEN IS DIM. IF I RESTART CAR THE CAR THE SCREEN COMES TO FULL BRIGHTNESS. ALL TECH PEOPLE AT MILLENNIUM HYUNDAI HAVE SUPPLIED DOCUMENTATION THAT THEY AGREE WITH MY STATEMENT BUT HYUNDAI CORPORATION CLEARLY REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEM. ALL I HAVE ASKED IS THAT IF THIS BECOMES A PERMANENT SITUATION AFTER THE THREE YEAR GUARANTEE THEY WILL FIX IT. *TR

Recall history

2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

13V264000 · Air Bags:Frontal:Sensor/Control Module-Inactive

Reported: 2013-06-25 (June 25, 2013)

Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Azera vehicles manufactured May 22, 2012, through November 23, 2012. The occupant detection system may fail to properly differentiate whether the front passenger seat occupant is an adult, a child or a child restraint seat.

Consequence: If the occupant is incorrectly classified, in the event of a crash necessitating airbag deployment, the airbag may deploy with greater or lesser force than appropriate, resulting in an increased risk of injury.

Remedy: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will recalibrate the airbag system. The recall beagan on August 13, 2013. Hyundai's recall number is "Campaign 111." Owners may contact Hyundai at 1-800-633-5151.

Reported: 2023-09-22 (September 22, 2023)

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2015 Elantra, Genesis Coupe, Sonata Hybrid, 2012-2015 Accent, Azera, Veloster, 2013-2015 Elantra Coupe, Santa Fe, 2014-2015 Equus, 2010-2012 Veracruz, 2010-2013 Tucson, 2015 Tucson Fuel Cell, and 2013 Santa Fe Sport vehicles. The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module may leak brake fluid internally and cause an electrical short, which can result in an engine compartment fire while parked or driving.

Consequence: An engine compartment fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
