THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) LIGHT TURNED ON FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THERE WAS NOT FRONTAL IMPACT AND/OR IMPACT WHATSOEVER SO THEREFORE I SUSPECT THAT THERE MAY BE A DEFECT WITHIN THE SRS SYSTEM ITSELF BUT NO COOPERATION WAS OFFERED FROM THE DEALER AND/OR HONDA. A PERSONAL FRIEND ALSO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM BUT HE DID NOT REPORT IT AS MAY BE THE CASE WITH MANY INDIVIDUALS. THIS CONCERNS ME AND THEREFORE I ASK FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE BEFORE ANYONE GETS HURT. I THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE AND TIME. *AK

THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT, OF MY 1999 HONDA CR-V WITH ONLY 86,520 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. IT WAS SHIFTING SLUGGISHLY EVEN BEFORE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED, I JUST DID NOT REALIZE THAT IT WAS NOT NORMAL UNTIL I HAD A DIFFERENT TRANSMISSION INSTALLED. I HAD THE HONDA DEALER SERVICE MY CR-V REGULARLY. THE FIRST PROBLEM I HAD WAS A NOISE WHEN THE ALL-WHEEL DRIVE ENGAGED IN HEAVY SNOW IN DECEMBER OF 2000. THE DEALER "REPLACED CVT FLUID PER TRANSMISSION NOISE" ACCORDING TO THE INVOICE. THE CR-V HAD 26,375 MILES AT THAT SERVICE INVOICE DATE. THE FLUIDS WER…

Owner report 10030508 · 2003-07-31 (July 31, 2003)

WITH 57K MILES AND ALL RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE, MY HONDA CRV HAD A BURNT EXHAUST VALVE ON THE #3 CYLINDER. IN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, I FOUND SEVERAL SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ALL REFERRING TO THE #3 CYLINDER AND THE VALVE TIGHTNESS FROM THE FACTORY. IF HONDA REALIZED THIS MAY BE A PROBLEM, COULD THEY HAVE NOT ADJUSTED THESE VALVES DURING REGULAR MAINTENANCE? I'M NOT HAPPY IN PAYING FOR A REPAIR THAT HONDA COULD HAVE PREVENTED BUT DIDN'T INFORM ME THAT MIGHT HAPPEN. *PH

WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT, DRIVER LEANED FROM THE DRIVER'S SEAT INTO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, AND THE FRONT DRIVER'S SEAT FULLY RECLINED WITHOUT WARNING. THIS IMPACTS ABILITY TO CONTROL VEHICLE, AND VISIBILITY. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT SEAT IMPACTED THE CHILD SEATED DIRECTLY BEHIND THE DRIVER.*AK

I HAVE A 1999 HONDA CRV AND THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN NOT GOING INTO GEAR LIKE IT SHOULD, AND I HAVE TAKEN THE CRV TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY KEEP TELLING ME THAT HAVE TO GIVE IT TIME TO CHANGE GEAR. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE CRV IT WASN'T DOING THAT SO WHY IS IT DOING IT NOW. IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS. *AK

Owner report 10033272 · 2003-08-21 (August 21, 2003)

I HAVE A 1999 HONDA CR-V AND HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION ABOUT 1.5 YEARS AFTER I BOUGHT IT NEW. GEARS DON'T SHIFT RIGHT, WOULDN'T GO INTO GEAR, I HAD A NEW TRANSMISSION INSTALLED AND STILL HAVE SAME PROBLEM. THE MAJOR THING IS THE CLEAR COAT PAINT KEEPS PEELING ALOT OF LITTLE PLACES, 2 AREAS ARE BIG & IT'S GETTING THE ACTUAL PAINT AND RUSTING. I DID PURCHASE (WAS DUMB) THE FINISHING TOUCH SYSTEM THAT GET'S DONE ONCE A YEAR (I DON'T REALLY KNOW WHAT THEY DO) AND THAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM.*AK

Recall history

3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

02V120000 · Electrical System:Ignition:Switch

Reported: 2002-05-16 (May 16, 2002)

ON CERTAIN SEDANS, COUPES, HATCHBACKS, AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, ELECTRICAL CONTACTS IN THE IGNITION SWITCH CAN DEGRADE DUE TO THE HIGH ELECTRICAL CURRENT PASSING THROUGH THE SWITCH WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED.

Consequence: WORN CONTACTS COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE IGNITION SWITCH. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JUNE 14, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009 OR ACURA AT 1-800-382-2238.

20V026000 · Air Bags:Frontal:Driver Side:Inflator Module

Reported: 2020-01-17 (January 17, 2020)

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 1998 Acura 2.2CL, 1998-1999 Acura 2.3CL, 1998-1999 Acura 3.0CL, 2001 Acura 3.2CL and Acura MDX, 1998-2000 Honda Accord Coupe, Accord Sedan, Civic Sedan, Odyssey and Acura 3.5RL, 1999-2000 Acura 3.2TL, 1996-2000 Civic Coupe, 1997-2000 CR-V, 1997-1998 EV Plus, and 1998-1999 Isuzu Oasis vehicles. These vehicles were equipped with Non-Azide Driver air bag Inflators (NADI) and do not contain phase stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) propellant. Due to a manufacturing issue, the NADI inflators may absorb moisture, causing the inflators to rupture or the air bag cushion to underinflate.

Consequence: In the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment, an inflator rupture may result in metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants. An underinflated air bag cushion may not properly protect the occupant. These scenarios increase the risk of serious injury or death.

Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the driver frontal air bag inflator, and replace it if necessary, with an inflator of a different design, free of charge. The recall began October 1, 2020. Owners may contact American Honda's Customer Support & Campaign Center at 1-888-234-2138 or Isuzu customer service at 1-800-255-6727.

99V282000 · Electrical System:Wiring:Interior/Under Dash

Reported: 1999-10-19 (October 19, 1999)

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. AN IMPROPERLY ROUTED UNDER DASH WIRE HARNESS COULD BE DAMAGED BY CONTACT WITH THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A BLOWN FUSE. IF THIS OCCURS, OPERATION OF A CRITICAL COMPONENT CAN BE LOST, INCLUDING WINDSHIELD WIPERS, HEADLIGHTS, TURN SIGNAL AND HAZARD LAMPS, TAIL LAMPS, THE ANTI-LOCKING FUNCTION OF THE BRAKES, AND BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM.

Consequence: A SUDDEN, UNEXPECTED LOSS OF LIGHTING OR A FAILURE OF THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS IN BAD WEATHER, COULD BE HAZARDOUS INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A 70MM PROTECTIVE, CORRUGATED PLASTIC TUBE OVER THE WIRE HARNESS, IN THE AREA OF THE BRAKE STOP SWITCH. IF ANY WIRE OR WIRES ARE DAMAGED, THEY WILL BE REPAIRED.
