Reported: 1983-12-07 (December 7, 1983)

PRODUCTION TOLERANCE ERRORS COULD ALLOW ACCIDENTAL HOOD OPENING. IF THE HOOD IS NOT SECURELY LATCHED IN THE FULLY LOCKED POSITION, DRIVING AT HIGH SPEED OR HITTING A LARGE BUMP COULD CAUSE THE HOOD TO OPEN WITHOUT WARNING.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE DEFECTIVE HOOD LATCHES AT NO CHARGE.

83V132000 · Power Train:Driveline:Driveshaft

Reported: 1983-12-07 (December 7, 1983)

LEFT DRIVE SHAFT MAY DEVELOP CRACKS, AND MAY BREAK UNDER HEAVY LOADING SUCH AS THAT CAUSED BY RAPID ACCELERATION. THIS DEFECT ORIGINATED IN A MANUFACTURING PROCESS WHICH HAS NOW BEEN IMPROVED.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE LEFT DRIVE SHAFT ON VEHICLES THAT HAVE NOT BEEN PREVIOUSLY CORRECTED, AT NO CHARGE.

88V117000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Delivery:Fuel Pump

Reported: 1988-07-22 (July 22, 1988)

UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, MECHANICAL FUEL PUMPS MAY DEVELOP FUEL LEAKAGE AT CRIMPED SEAM BETWEEN THE TWO FUEL PUMP HALVES.

Consequence: FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT CREATES APOSSIBILITY OF A FIRE.

Remedy: INSTALL AN IMPROVED FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY.
