THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V681000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. HALLS MOTORSPORT (1520 WEST INTERSTATE 65 SERVICE RD S, MOBILE, AL) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HONDA CBR1000RR. WHILE RIDING THE MOTORCYCLE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, IT FAILED TO ACCELERATE. IN ADDITION, AN ABNORMAL NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE ENGINE BLOCK. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS TAKEN TO CAPITAL POWERSPORTS (10920 STAR RD, WAKE FOREST, NC 27587), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 600.

TL* THE CONSUMER CALLED ON BEHALF OF HER SON WHOM WAS THE DRIVER/OWNER. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT HER SON WAS INVOLVED IN A FATAL ACCIDENT WHILE RIDING HIS 2017 HONDA CBR 1000. THE CONSUMER STATED PER THE POLICE REPORT THE MOTORCYCLE WA STUCK IN 3RD GEAR, THE RIDER WAS TRAVELING UP A RAMP AS THE LOST CONTROL. PER THE REPORT THE RIDER WENT OVER A RAIL HOWEVER, THE MOTORCYCLE WENT OVER A RAIL ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE ACCIDENT WAS NOT DISCOVERED UNTIL THE NEXT DAY BY A PASSERBY. 17V681000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Storage:Tank Assembly:Filler Pipe And Cap
Reported: 2017-10-26 (October 26, 2017)
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2017 Honda CBR1000RR and CBR1000RR SP motorcycles. There may be a gap between the fuel tank cap seal and the fuel filler neck which can allow water to enter the fuel tank.
Consequence: If water enters the gas tank, the engine may stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel tank cap. If water has gotten into the fuel tank, the affected components will be replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on December 22, 2017. Owners may contact 1-866-784-1870. Honda's number for this recall is KH7.

Reported: 2024-11-15 (November 15, 2024)
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2007, 2009-2017 CBR600RR, 2008-2017, 2021 CBR1000RR, and 2010, 2012-2013 VFR1200 motorcycles. The fuel pump impellers may have been improperly molded, which can cause them to deform and result in fuel pump failure.
Consequence: Fuel pump failure can cause an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel pump module as necessary, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed January 3, 2025. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-866-784-1870. Honda's numbers for this recall are KR2, KR3, KR4 and KR5. This recall is an expansion of NHTSA recall number 24V-113.
