TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 HARLEY-DAVIDSON FXDWG WIDE GLIDE MOTORCYCLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MOTORCYCLE WAS TAKEN TO BROTHERS' HARLEY-DAVIDSON INC (557 W MAIN ST, BRANFORD, CT 06405 [phone removed]) FOR A CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT. WHILE DRIVING ON THE LOT, THE MOTORCYCLE SEIZED AND FAILED TO MOVE WITHOUT WARNING. IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT TWO RETAINER NUT SCREWS FRACTURED AND THE SCREWS NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE, STATING THAT THE MOTORCYCLE WAS …

PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE CAM CHAIN TENSIONERS AND THE PRIMARY CHAIN TENSIONER. CAM CHAIN TENSIONER PREMATURELY FAILED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. RIDER WAS CLOSE ENOUGH TO HOME TO RETURN BEFORE ACCIDENT OR MAJOR DAMAGE OCCURED.

THE THROTTLE CABLE SNAPPED AT THE HANDLEBAR CONTROL (NOT THE CARB END) AS I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE. AS I COULDN'T OPEN THE THROTTLE BEYOND IDLE, I WAS FORCED TO "CREEP" AT ABOUT 10 MPH ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. THIS WAS DANGEROUS. *AK
