TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2007 HARLEY DAVIDSON FXD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 17,678.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HARLEY-DAVIDSON FXD DYNA GLIDE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE FRONT BRAKES FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MANCUSCO HARLEY-DAVIDSON CROSSROADS (12710 CROSSROADS PARK DR, HOUSTON, TX 77065) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

I was riding on the highway at 60 mph and all of a sudden the back suspension felt very hard. When I stopped I found both rear shock mounting bolts had sheared off causing my frame to collapse onto the tire. The left shock completely separated from the frame at the top rotating down. The right shock stay somewhat in position because the sheared bolt jammed into the seat. The rear fender literally was rubbing on the rotating tire and that destroyed the rear wiring harness that is routed under the rear fender. In addition, the bolt breakage…

Reported: 2007-02-01 (February 1, 2007)

CERTAIN SPORTSTER AND DYNA MODEL MOTORCYCLES WERE BUILT WITH AN INCORRECT FRONT TIRE.

Consequence: THIS INCORRECT TIRE COULD CAUSE PERFORMANCE ISSUES, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE FRONT TIRE AND REPLACE IT IF NECESSARY. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 5, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HARLEY-DAVIDSON AT 1-414-343-4056.
