WE WERE IN ROUTE TO ASSATEAGUE FOR THE WEEKEND WHEN OUR AWNING SOMEHOW OPENED & DETACHED FROM OUR CAMPER WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON RT 50 IN MARYLAND. I BELIEVE IT FAILED DUE TO BEING BLOWN OPEN BY THE WIND, BUT I AM UNSURE. WHEN IT DETACHED, IT VIOLENTLY FLAILED AROUND DAMAGING THE EXTERIOR OF THE TRAILER. WE WERE ON THE CHESAPEAKE BAY BRIDGE WHEN THE EVENT OCCURRED WITH THE AWNING FLAILING AROUND BY CARS & THE BRIDGE STRUCTURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 (NA) GRAND DESIGN MOMENTUM TRAILER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A FAILURE WITH THE FLOOR HEATER. THE HEAT CAUSED THE FLOOR TO TURN BROWN, WHICH PRESENTED THE RISK OF A FIRE. IN ADDITION, THE ROOM SLIDEOUT FAILED TO SLIDE BACK IN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED.

The kitchen side slide out hydraulic cylinder burst/ruptured while under pressure due to the incorrect length bolt being used in the slide out rotating cross shaft. The bolt wore a hole in the cylinder over a 3 year period, and the cylinder shot hydraulic fluid all over the under belly of the trailer. Hydraulic fluid sprayed several 120-volt and 12-volt electrical connections and wires, and also leaked out of the side of the chloroplast. Our RV completly filled with the smell of propane when manually switching propane tanks while the furnance was running. The smell was coming from furnance vents. We checked the stove and the flame on the burner was unusually several inches higher in height. There no smell of propane in the exterior compartments or vents and isolated to the inside of the RV. All windows were opened and the furnance turned off to vent the RV to remove the gas smell. We believe this to be a propane regulator malfunction.

my suspension failed with the leaf springs breaking and the shackles and bushings failed then the frame is breaking( flexing). all fasteners were loose and some missing the body came loose from the frame... this is a issue with many other grand design 5th wheels ... hopefully the parts that fell off on the freeway did not hurt anyone... ( leaf springs)

Welds on the frame where the fifth wheel overhang attaches to the main frame have broke allowing the kingpin to raise up off of the front upright. This means that the kingpin overhang is only attached at the rear upright making the RV unsafe to tow.

Reported: 2021-05-26 (May 26, 2021)
Grand Design RV, LLC (Grand Design) is recalling certain 2016-2021 Imagine, Transcend, and Momentum travel trailers. The LP regulator that controls the LP gas pressure may fail, allowing excessive gas pressure that causes the appliance flame to increase.
Consequence: Excessive gas pressure and a larger than intended appliance flame can increase the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the LP regulator, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 24, 2021. Owners may contact Grand Design customer service at 1-574-825-9679. Grand Design's number for this recall is 910023.

Reported: 2022-01-28 (January 28, 2022)
Grand Design RV, LLC (Grand Design) is recalling certain 2013-2021 Momentum, Solitude, and Reflection recreational vehicles. A 110-volt wire in the refrigerator cabinet may be improperly secured, which could result in the wire contacting the refrigerator cooling unit, causing an electrical arc.
Consequence: An electrical arc increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace any damaged wiring, and properly secure the wires, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on February 21, 2022. Owners may contact Grand Design customer service at 1-574-825-9679. Grand Design's number for this recall is 910026.
