Grand Design MOMENTUM problems and owner complaints

AFTER READING ON THE GRAND DESIGN OWNERS FORUM ABOUT LEAKING GREASE SEALS ON THE WHEELS, I DECIDED TO DO AN INSPECTION OF MY BRAKES. I HAVE PUT ONLY 500 MILES ON MY TRAILER SINCE TAKING DELIVERY ON JUNE 8, 2016. I ASSUME THAT THE TRAILER WAS DELIVERED TO OREGON BY TOWING IT FROM THE FACTORY. I REMOVED THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKE DRUM AND SURE ENOUGH FOUND A FAILED GREASE SEAL AND GLOBS OF WHEEL BEARING GREASE ON THE DRUM, BRAKE SHOES AND MAGNET.

THE WIRING FOR THE ELECTRIC TRAILER BRAKES ARE NOT IN ANY PROTECTIVE COVER AND ARE IN DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE SUSPENSION, FREE TO MOVE AND CHAFE. WHEN ANY OF THE 12 VOLT POWER WIRES RUBS THROUGH AND THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED IT WILL CREATE A DEAD SHORT, BLOWING THE FUSE IN THE TOW VEHICLE AND LEAVING THE DRIVER WITH A 15,500 POUND TRAILER WITH NO BRAKES TO AID IN STOPPING. The kitchen side slide out hydraulic cylinder burst/ruptured while under pressure due to the incorrect length bolt being used in the slide out rotating cross shaft. The bolt wore a hole in the cylinder over a 3 year period, and the cylinder shot hydraulic fluid all over the under belly of the trailer. Hydraulic fluid sprayed several 120-volt and 12-volt electrical connections and wires, and also leaked out of the side of the chloroplast. This is a 43 foot fifth wheel RV. The frame near the front of the RV is showing signs of "frame-flex," or frame cracking. The attached pictures illustrate where the walls are shifting and creating wear marks; this is consistent with other RV owners experiences the same problem. This issue could contribute in further frame cracking that may result in significant property damage or even death. I plan to report this issue today to the manufacturer, Grand Design.

We started noticing issues on our RV and reported it to Grand Design. Those issues included bolts holding front philon breaking and loosening, wallpaper at base near floor shifting, excessive new noises on slide movement, lippert legs stopping due to being off balance on level ground, stress cracks in front cap, sawdust in pantry cabinet, loose lag bolts upon further inspection and dresser panel repeatedly popping off on travel days. Our RV completly filled with the smell of propane when manually switching propane tanks while the furnance was running. The smell was coming from furnance vents. We checked the stove and the flame on the burner was unusually several inches higher in height. There no smell of propane in the exterior compartments or vents and isolated to the inside of the RV. All windows were opened and the furnance turned off to vent the RV to remove the gas smell. We believe this to be a propane regulator malfunction.
