SPEEDOMETER AND BRAKING LIGHTS FAILED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING. ALSO VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT ABOVE 2ND GEAR. DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE(ECM) WAS FLOODED WITH GASOLINE DUE TO A DEFECTIVE LEAKING FUEL INJECTOR. DEALER RECOMMENDED THAT CONSUMER REPLACE ALL 8 INJECTORS BECAUSE THEY ARE EXHIBITING THE SAME POTENTIAL TO FAIL/LEAK.*AK HARNESS, CPI FUEL, METER, VCM, CORE RETURN, SEAL AND SWITCH ASSEMBLY WERE REPLACED. *TT

Reported: 2000-04-27 (April 27, 2000)

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: LIGHT DUTY PICKUP TRUCKS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES. THESE VEHICLES DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE OCCUPANT PROTECTION REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 208, "OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION."

Consequence: IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH, THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER RESTRAINT SYSTEMS MAY NOT MEET THE NECK EXTENSION REQUIREMENTS.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A TRAY INSERT ON THE TOP OF THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE TRAY INSERT CORRECTS THE NONCOMPLIANCE.
