THE ABS BRAKE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED AT ALL TIMES. THE CONSUMER HEARD A HUMMING SOUND COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE ABS MODULE WAS DISCONNECTED BECAUSE THE MODULE CONTINUED TO RUN ALTHOUGH VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. IF THE MODULE WAS LEFT CONNECTED IT COULD DRAIN THE BATTERY AND POSSIBLY DAMAGE OTHER SYSTEMS. ON JAN.15,2003, I PURCHASED FIVE ( 5 ) DUNLOP ROVER A/T BSL TIRES FOR MY 1999 CHEV SUBURBAN FROM JUST TIRES 408 HADDONFIELD RD. CHERRY HILL, NJ 08034 AND PAID CASH FOR SAME. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: LIGHT DUTY PICKUP TRUCKS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES. THESE VEHICLES DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE OCCUPANT PROTECTION REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 208, "OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION."
Consequence: IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH, THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER RESTRAINT SYSTEMS MAY NOT MEET THE NECK EXTENSION REQUIREMENTS.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A TRAY INSERT ON THE TOP OF THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE TRAY INSERT CORRECTS THE NONCOMPLIANCE.
