I'VE EXPERIENCED A VERY SERIOUS/DANGEROUS PROBLEM ON 9/5/03, 11/1/03, 11/2/03 & 4/18/04: THE ENGINE HAS COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY SUV. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE I'VE BEEN DRIVING ON HWY, ON BRIDGES/ TUNNELS (WITHH NO SHOULDERS), & WHEN I'VE STOPPED THE SUV @ TRAFFIC LIGHTS & STOP SIGNS. THE COMMON DENOMINATORS FOR THE ENGINE SHUTTING DOWN SEEM TO BE: (1)LONG DISTANCE TRAVEL-ON ALL 4 OCCASIONS I HAD BEEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE HWY FOR 100 OR MORE MILES @ SPEEDS OF 60-70 MPH BEFORE THE ENGINE WOULD BEGIN SHUTTING DOW…

1 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
02V253000 · Seats:Front Assembly:Head Restraint
Reported: 2002-09-17 (September 17, 2002)
ON CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH REARWARD FOLDING HEAD RESTRAINTS ON THE SECOND ROW SEATS, TWO POTENTIAL PINCH POINTS EXIST ON EACH OF THE FOLDING HEAD RESTRAINTS WHEN THE RESTRAINTS ARE FOLDED REARWARD AS THE SEATBACK IS FOLDED DOWN.
Consequence: IF A PERSON WERE TO INSERT THEIR FINGER(S) INTO THE PINCH POINT WHEN THE HEAD RESTRAINT FOLDS, IT COULD TRAP AND PINCH THE FINGER(S) CAUSING INJURY.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL PROTECTIVE COVERS OVER THE PINCH POINTS. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN NOVEMBER 8, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT CHEVROLET AT 1-800-222-1020, GMC AT 1-800-462-8782, OR CADILLAC AT 1-800-458-8006.
