Owner report 11707234 · 2025-12-27 (December 27, 2025)

I am submitting this report to document a serious and dangerous safety defect involving my Genesis G70. Note - Your system pulls my VIN as a G80, I own a G70. On two separate occasions, the vehicle applied braking without driver input and abruptly veered to the left, despite there being no obstacles, vehicles, or road hazards present. During the first incident, the vehicle was operating in Comfort mode with Lane Assist enabled. During the second incident, the vehicle was operating in Sport mode with Lane Assist disabled. In both cases, the …

Owner report 11714226 · 2026-01-29 (January 29, 2026)

While driving at highway speeds (55–73 mph), the vehicle has repeatedly and unexpectedly applied the brakes on its own and on at least one occasion experienced a loss of power. These events occurred without any vehicles, pedestrians, or obstacles present, and without any driver input. Road and weather conditions did not warrant braking. On multiple occasions, the vehicle suddenly decelerated while adaptive cruise control was engaged, then immediately re-accelerated back to the set speed. This created a serious risk of being rear-ended or invol…

Owner report 11730299 · 2026-04-10 (April 10, 2026)

This is a follow-up to complaint #11714226 regarding an ongoing safety defect. The defect has now resulted in a crash. The vehicle experiences repeated unintended braking at highway speeds (50–79 mph) without driver input and with no obstacles present. During multiple events, the steering becomes temporarily unresponsive or “locked,” preventing driver control. The vehicle has also exhibited unintended lane departures, erratic lane changes, and unexpected acceleration following braking. Warning indicators including Forward Collision-Avoidance …

This complaint is a follow-up to NHTSA Complaints #11714226 and #11730299 regarding the same unresolved safety defect. Since those complaints were filed, the vehicle has now been involved in a SECOND defect-related crash. I repeatedly begged Genesis not to return this vehicle to me because I believed it was unsafe to drive. They refused to state the vehicle was safe or unsafe. No risk to them.Genesis scheduled a fourth repair attempt, took possession of the vehicle, but did not repair or even diagnose the steering and braking defects before re…

2026 Genesis G70 2.5T RWD. The navigation system is completely gone. There is absolutely no way to get the maps or even the navigation settings menu up. On every startup, you can see a part of the screen which shows it tries to load navigation, but fails every time. There are a few critical safety issues with this. To start, a main feature of the Adaptive Cruise Control is relying on GPS map data to anticipate sharp bends in the highway. If the navigation system cannot provide this layout data, the adaptive cruise control will not automatica…

Recall history

1 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

26V019000 · Electrical System: Instrument Cluster/Panel

Reported: 2026-01-16 (January 16, 2026)

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain Genesis 2025-2026 G80, GV80, 2026 G80 "Electrified," GV60, GV70 "Electrified" and GV70 vehicles. Due to a software error, the instrument panel display may fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Controls and Displays."

Consequence: An instrument panel display that fails to show critical safety information, such as the speedometer or fuel gauge, increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Owners are advised to disable the high definition (HD) radio feature until the recall remedy has been performed. The audio video navigation software will be updated over-the-air (OTA) or inspected and updated by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning February 17, 2026. Owners may contact Genesis customer service at 844-340-9741. Hyundai's number for this recall is 031G. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning January 17, 2026.
