A COUPLE OF MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT MY FOREST RIVER SANDPIPER 5TH WHEEL RV TRAILER I HAD FOUND THAT THE DOOR FRAME TO THE ENTRANCE DOOR WAS CRACKING. I TOOK THE RV BACK TO THE DEALER, FAMILY FUN RV, FOR INSPECTION AND WARRANTY REPAIR. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD ORDERED ME A NEW DOOR AND FRAME. SOON AFTER, WITHOUT CONTACTING ME, THE DEALER WENT OUT OF BUSINESS AND HAD NOT REPAIRED THE DOOR. IN JULY OF 2005, WHILE TRAVELING TO NEW MEXICO, I HAD NOTICED THAT THE BODY OF THE RV APPEARED TO BE BENDING IN THE MIDDLE. WHEN I RETURNED FROM MY TRIP ON …

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FOREST RIVER SHASTA RV (N/A). THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS AN UNUSUAL CRACKING NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE TRAVELING FROM 0-5 MPH. LATER, HE NOTICED THE FRAME WAS CRACKED ABOVE DIRECTLY ABOVE THE SPRING SHACKLES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.

Reported: 2007-03-05 (March 5, 2007)

CERTAIN RECREATIONAL VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A TWO-DOOR REFRIGERATOR, MANUFACTURED BY THE DOMETIC CORPORATION, MAY HAVE A DEFECT IN THE BOILER TUBE. PRESSURIZED COOLANT SOLUTION COULD BE RELEASED INTO AN AREA WHERE AN IGNITION SOURCE (GAS FLAME) IS PRESENT.

Consequence: RELEASE OF COOLANT UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS COULD IGNITE AND RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy: FOREST RIVER WILL BE WORKING WITH DOMETIC IN ORDER TO REPAIR THESE REFRIGERATORS (PLEASE SEE 06E076). DOMETIC WILL REPAIR THESE REFRIGERATORS BY INSTALLING A SECONDARY BURN HOUSING, A THERMAL FUSE, AND A MELT FUSE FREE OF CHARGE. DOMETIC HAS RETAINED STERICYCLE INC. TO MANAGE THIS CAMPAIGN. STERICYCLE WILL ASSIST YOU IN LOCATING DEALERSHIPS OR SERVICE CENTERS AND WILL PROVIDE ASSISTANCE WITH SCHEDULING OF APPOINTMENTS.
