VEHICLE IS A NEW GEORGETOWN 300S MOTOR HOME WITH A ROOM SLIDE OUT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. OVER THE SLIDE OUT IS AN AWNING SOMETIMES CALLED A TOPPER THAT IS ROLLED VERY COMPACTLY WITH A TORSION SPRING WHEN TRAVELING. UNDER CERTAIN WIND CONDITIONS (30 MPH WIND FROM LEFT AT 60 MILES PER HOUR FORWARD COACH SPEED) THE TOPPER WILL VIOLENTLY UNROLL, IMPACTING THE MOTOR COACH CABIN, AND RESULTING WITH VERY LOUD WIND NOISE THAT APPEARS TO BE AN IMPACT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. STOPPING VERY QUICKLY CLEARS THE PROBLEM YET SERIOUSLY DISRUPTS ADJACENT VEHIC…

AS I WAS LEAVING A CAMPGROUND BRAKES FAILED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE EXIT FROM CAMPGROUND WAS DOWNHILL AND COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS. DROVE NEXT DOOR TO RV SERVICE AND THEY CHECKED IT OUT AND SAID IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO A FORD DEALER. THE BRAKE LINES HAD BROKE.THEY WERE RUSTED FROM THE OUTSIDE. FORD DEALER REPLACED 3 LINES. FORD WOULD NOT COVER THE BILL OF 458.56 BECAUSE IT WAS 2 MONTHS BEYOND WARRANTY.THE MOTORHOME WAS NEVER IN SNOW,ICE OR SALT WATER. THERE MUST HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM FROM NEW WITH THE LINES. *TR

Recall history
4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
10V595000 · Equipment:Recreational Vehicle/Trailer
Reported: 2010-12-02 (December 2, 2010)
FOREST RIVER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011 GEORGETOWN CLASS A MOTOR HOMES FOR FAILING TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY NO. 302, "FLAMMABILITY OF INTERIOR MATERIALS". THE FABRICS USED IN WINDOW TREATMENTS, WINDOW VALANCES, DRAPERY, AND BED SPREADS ARE NOT TREATED WITH FLAME RETARDANT.
Consequence: FAILURE TO HAVE THE FABRIC TREATED WITH FLAME RETARDANT IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE COULD CAUSE THE FABRIC TO BURN FASTER INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURIES TO OCCUPANTS.
Remedy: FOREST RIVER WILL BE SENDING REPLACEMENT PARTS TO THE DEALERS WITH FABRIC ALREADY TREATED WITH FLAME RETARDANT. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 3, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FOREST RIVER AT 1-574-206-7605.

Reported: 2012-05-08 (May 8, 2012)
FOREST RIVER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010-2012 GEORGETOWN RECREATIONAL VEHICLES BUILT ON A FORD STRIPPED CHASSIS, MANUFACTURED FROM FEBRUARY 15, 2010, THROUGH NOVEMBER 29, 2011. THE GEAR SHIFTERS CABLE MAY BREAK AT THE ATTACHMENT TO THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SELECTOR ARM ASSEMBLY MOUNTED ON THE STEERING COLUMN. IF THE CABLE BREAKS, THE TRANSMISSION GEAR INDICATOR IN THE GEAR DISPLAY IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WILL REMAIN IN THE FIRST GEAR POSITION REGARDLESS OF THE GEAR SELECTED.
Consequence: AN INCORRECT GEAR INDICATION IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INCREASES THE RISK THAT A VEHICLE IS LEFT IN GEAR, SUCH THAT THE VEHICLE COULD ROLL LEADING TO A CRASH OR INJURY TO A BYSTANDER.
Remedy: FOREST RIVER WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION SELECTOR ARM ASSEMBLY AND THE CABLE ASSEMBLY, FREE OF CHARGE. FOREST RIVER HAS NOT YET PROVIDED A NOTIFICATION SCHEDULE. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FOREST RIVER AT 1-574-295-8749.

Reported: 2015-11-25 (November 25, 2015)
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2014 FR3, 2009 Forest River Encore, Sportscoach Elite, and Aurora, 2008-2009 Cruise Master, 2012-2015 Aviator, 2007-2014 Georgetown, 2007-2009 Legend, 2008-2012 Ridgeview, 2008-2014 Cross Country, 2010-2014 Coachmen Encounter, 2009-2014 Pathfinder, Solera, Mirada, Prism, and Pursuit motorhomes. The affected vehicles are equipped with certain Lippert-brand Coachstep Double and Triple Electric Steps. These steps use a bolt to attach the fan gear assembly to the steps. This bolt may fracture allowing the fan gear to disengage from the steps. As a result, the steps may not remain in the expected position and may be unstable.
Consequence: Unstable entry and exit steps increase the risk of injury.
Remedy: Forest River will notify owners and dealers will install a retainer bracket to reinforce the operating mechanism, free of charge. Forest River issued an interim notification to owners on January 7, 2016. The recall began on March 3, 2016. Owners may contact Forest River customer service number at 1-574-389-4600. Forest River's number for this recall is 51-11102015-0109. Or owners can contact Lippert Components at 1-574-537-8900.
NHTSA campaign record ↗24V913000 · Exterior Lighting:Turn Signal
Reported: 2024-12-06 (December 6, 2024)
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2009-2017 Georgetown Class A motorhomes. The amber turn signal lens has an undersized reflective surface. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Consequence: Inadequately reflective turn signals can make it difficult for other drivers to see when the vehicle intends to turn, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the turn signal, and bulb, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 11, 2025. Owners may call Forest River customer service at 1-574-206-7600. Forest River's number for this recall is 68-1875.
