TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1998 FORD F-350. TEN MINUTES AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, IT CAUGHT FIRE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS UNKNOWN. THREE DAYS AFTER THE FIRE OCCURRED THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE CRUISE CONTROL WHICH STATED THAT A FIRE COULD OCCUR. THE CONTACT WANTS THE MANUFACTURER TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WE…

07V553000 · Engine And Engine Cooling:Engine:Diesel

Reported: 2007-12-05 (December 5, 2007)

ON CERTAIN HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH 7.3L DIESEL ENGINES, THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR LOCATED ON THE ENGINE OF THE VEHICLE MAY FUNCTION INTERMITTENTLY, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN AN ENGINE STALL.

Consequence: IN THE EVENT OF AN ENGINE STALL, A CRASH COULD RESULT WITHOUT WARNING.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE SENSOR AND REPLACE IT WITH AN IMPROVED CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 29, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD AT 1-866-436-7332.
