CHAIN RUBBING AGAINST SWINGARM. FEARFUL IT WILL WEAKEN THE CHAIN AT SPEED OR CAUSE WEAKENING OF SUPPORT MEMBER THAT HOLD TIRE ONTO THE VEHICLE. SECOND ISSUE, ELECTRONIC CONTROL ISSUE WITH THE ELECTRONIC SUSPENSION. CONCERNED IT COULD CAUSE LOSS OF TRACTION OF VEHICLE AT SPEED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DUCATI 1199 PANIGALE MOTORCYCLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, HE ENGAGED THE CLUTCH DEVICE AND ACCIDENTALLY ACTIVATED THE HIGH BEAM SWITCH DUE TO BOTH FUNCTIONS BEING TOO CLOSE. IN ADDITION, THE REAR VIEW MIRRORS FAILED TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE VIEWING OF THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE FUNCTIONED AS DESIGNED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.…

THE MOTORCYCLE HAS A GEAR INDICATOR (TO TELL WHAT GEAR YOU ARE IN) THAT DISPLAYS ON THE DASHBOARD. TWO DIFFERENT GEAR INDICATION PROBLEMS: 1) WHILE TRAVELING IN 6TH GEAR, THE INDICATOR WILL FLASH BETWEEN 5TH AND 6TH GEAR 2) WHILE IN NEUTRAL GEAR, THE INDICATOR WILL FLASH BETWEEN 1ST AND NEUTRAL. THIS ONLY OCCURS WHEN THE BIKE IS HEAT SOAKED IN CONJUNCTION WITH AIR TEMPERATURES ABOVE 90 DEGREES. I BOUGHT THIS MOTORCYCLE NEW. IT HAS 1567 MILES ON IT. NEVER DRIVEN HARD OR RACED. THE ISSUE IS THAT THE MOTORCYCLE WILL NOT GO AND/OR STAY IN NEUTRAL GEAR. IF I GENTLY TAP THE SHIFT LEVER DOWN IN SAY'S GEAR 1 ON THE DASH WHEN ACTUALLY IT IS IN NEUTRAL. IF I INCREASE PRESSURE ON THE SHIFT LEVER IT WILL FULLY ENGAGE IN TO 1ST GEAR. Ducati is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 1199 Panigale motorcycles manufactured from March 16, 2012, through July 12, 2012. The exhaust butterfly valve bowden cable cover could melt or burn due to excess heat of the catalytic converter.
Consequence: Melting and burning of the bowden cable cover could lead to smoke and/or fire.
Remedy: Ducati will notify owners, and authorized dealers will the replace old exhaust butterfly valve bowden cable cover with a new one, free of charge. The safety recall began on October 15, 2012. Owners may contact Ducati at 1-800-231-6696 or through their website at www.ducati.com.

Ducati is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 1199 Panigale motorcycles manufactured from March 16, 2012, through July 12, 2012 . Due to an incorrect assembly tolerance, the Uniball bearing on the damper rod eyelet could slip out of its seat on the Ohlins steering damper.
Consequence: The steering damper can detach from its mounting point which can lead to loss of control of the motorcycle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Ducati will notify owners, and authorized dealers will install a special washer at the steering damper's mounting point, free of charge. The safety recall began on October 15, 2012. Owners may contact Ducati at 1-800-231-6696 or through their website at www.ducati.com.

Ducati is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 1199 Panigale motorcycles manufactured from March 16, 2012, through July 12, 2012. Screws that secure the steering damper to the steering head could fall out due to an insufficient amount of Loctite applied to the threads.
Consequence: The steering damper can detach from the steering head which can lead to loss of control of the motorcycle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Ducati will notify owners, and authorized dealers will remove both screws, clean the threads, apply the proper amount of Loctite, and tighten to the proper torque settings, free of charge. The safety recall began on October 15, 2012. Owners may contact Ducati at 1-800-231-6696 or through their website at www.ducati.com.

Ducati is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 1199 Panigale motorcycles manufactured from March 16, 2012, through July 12, 2012. The right and left swingarm shaft pivots can loosen.
Consequence: The swingarm shaft pivots can loosen from the swingarm which can lead to loss of control of the motorcycle, increasing the risk of personal injury.
Remedy: Ducati will notify owners, and authorized dealers will tighten the right and left swingarm shaft pivots to the proper torque settings, free of charge. The safety recall began on October 15, 2012. Owners may contact Ducati at 1-800-231-6696 or through their website at www.ducati.com.

Ducati is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 1199 Panigale motorcycles manufactured from March 16, 2012, through July 12, 2012. The front brake master cylinder reservoir hose might interfere with the threading end of the reservoir retaining screw.
Consequence: The front brake master cylinder reservoir hose might interfere with the threading end of the reservoir of the retaining screw causing damage to the hose, which could lead to a front brake system failure, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Ducati will notify owners, and authorized dealers will install a cap nut and a washer at the end of the reservoir retaining screw, free of charge. The safety recall began on October 15, 2012. Owners may contact Ducati at 1-800-231-6696 or through their website at www.ducati.com.

Ducati North America (Ducati) is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 1199 Panigale and Panigale S motorcycles. The left handlebar switch may not get power from its connection at the dashboard, preventing the horn, instrument panel display, high beam and right turn signals from functioning. As such, these motorcycles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 123, "Motorcycle Controls and Displays."
Consequence: The rider's inability to use the horn, right turn indicators and high beam could increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Ducati will notify owners, and dealers will install an additional wiring harness, free of charge. The recall began on June 6, 2014. Owners may contact Ducati at 1-800-231-6696. Ducati's number for this recall is RCL-14-001.
