2023 Dodge DURANGO: complaints, problems and recalls

A sudden loss of drive power. When the car start to drive the engine show a loss of power in a stop light, stop sign or during the day when I press the gasoline pedal.

That slow speeds when you back up or pull forward and the wheels hit a little bit of resistance, everything goes off on the vehicle, wipers do not work, says the adaptive traction control needs service, it says emergency braking service goes out, turn signals do not work, we have been to Dodge. I traded in my 2022 Ram 1500 V8 HEMI Midnight Edition, which was in mint condition with only 8,800 miles, because I needed a vehicle with more space after the birth of my child. Complete brake failure when stopping for a red light. This caused the vehicle to rear end a Jeep stopped at the light. Brake pedal went completely to the floor. This was verified by the investigating State Trooper, who started the Durango and checked the brakes, they went all the way to the floor as indicated in his report.

This is about our 8th, of a fleet of 14 Police Durangos, all 2021-2024 to have the oil filter housings have failed, causing engine oil and coolant to mix, making the car inoperable. This has been brought to the attention of Dodge, and they have told me it is a very common problem, yet we have no recalls yet and this is on agencies, and i assume personal vehicle owners too to repair. Reported: 2023-09-18 (September 18, 2023)

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2023 Dodge Durango Pursuit vehicles equipped with an instrument panel mounted shifter. The shifter may experience an interference with the shifter boot and come out of gear while driving, which can result in a sudden loss of drive power.

Consequence: A sudden loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the instrument panel mounted shifter boot, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 7, 2023. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 94A.

Reported: 2026-08-13 (August 13, 2026)

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Dodge Durango vehicles. The rear spoiler may not be aligned properly with the roof, possibly resulting in damage to the spoiler during liftgate use.

Consequence: A damaged rear spoiler may detach and create a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace or repair the spoiler and align the liftgate as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed beginning September 10, 2026. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 61D. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov on August 20, 2026. Vehicles in this recall were previously recalled under 21V842 or 23V115. Vehicles repaired under the prior recalls will need the new repair completed.
