THE VEHICLE (DIAMO VELUX SCOOTER) HAS: AN UNSAFE WIND PROFILE: THE BIKE IS DANGEROUSLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO EVEN LIGHT WINDS. DANGEROUS BRAKING CHARACTERISTICS: EXTREME PRESSURE IS REQUIRED TO STOP THE BIKE EVEN THOUGH IT ONLY WEIGHS 300 POUNDS. EMERGENCY BRAKING WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS. DANGEROUS SHOCK ABSORBER DESIGN: EVEN SMALL CHANGES IN ROAD SMOOTHNESS WILL CAUSE THE BIKE TO RESPOND IN UNEXPECTED WAYS. THE COVER OF THE SPEEDOMETER HAS GONE ALMOST COMPLETELY OPAQUE, RENDERING IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE HOW FAST I'M DRIVING OR HOW MUCH GAS REMAINS IN THE TANK. THE MANUFACTURER CLAIMS THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THIS DEFECT IS NOT DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR OR ANY CONSUMER ERROR, AND SHOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MANUFACTURER TO FIX SINCE IT COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE ACCIDENTS. 06V366000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Storage:Tank Assembly:Filler Pipe And Cap
Reported: 2006-09-25 (September 25, 2006)
ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, A RUBBER FUEL FILLER HOSE MAY CRACK WHICH COULD RESULT IN FUEL LEAKAGE WHEN REFUELING.
Consequence: FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL FILLER HOSE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 25, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DIAMO USA (LS MOTORSPORTS) AT 1-281-277-6140.
