THE CAR I HAD WAS A DAEWOO LANOS. DIDNT HAVE AIR BAGS,BRAKES FAILING,ENGINE MALFUNCTION,TRANMISSION FAILED,IF I GIVE IT GAS IT WOULD STAND STILL,POOR QUALITY TIRES,JUST AFTER A 2 MONTHS THE CAR WAS BEING TAKEN TO THE AUTO SHOP MANY TIMES UNTIL I WAS TOLD THE COMP WENT OUT OF BUSINESS AND WAS TOLD NOT TO COME BACK BECAUSE FIXING THE CAR WOULD COST ME THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. CAR EVENTUALLY STOPPED RUNNING DUE TO CAR MEMORY SHUT DOWN AS TOLD BY A MECHANIC.BRAKES REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES,TIRES REPLACED TWICE,AIRBAGS WERE NEVER PUT IN.*AK

01V020001 · Electrical System:Wiring

Reported: 2001-02-01 (February 1, 2001)

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. A WIRING HARNESS, LOCATED BENEATH THE CARPET IN THE FRONT PASSENGER FLOOR AREA, CAN BECOME DAMAGED BY PASSENGER TRAFFIC AS THE WIRE HARNESS IS RUBBED AGAINST A BODY SEAM IN THE FLOOR PANEL.

Consequence: WHEN DAMAGED, ENGINE DRIVEABILITY COULD BE AFFECTED AND COULD RESULT IN SUDDEN ENGINE STALLING.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPOSITION THE WIRE HARNESS AND ATTACH IT PERMANENTLY IN A LOCATION WHERE THE WIRE HARNESS CANNOT BE DAMAGED. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JANUARY 31, 2001. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT DAEWOO DE PUERTO RICO AT 1-787-274-6514.

02V131002 · Air Bags

Reported: 2002-05-08 (May 8, 2002)

CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 201, "OCCUPANT PROTECTION IN INTERIOR IMPACT."

Consequence: IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH IN WHICH THE AIR BAGS DO NOT DEPLOY, THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF INCREASED HEAD INJURY TO THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SHOULD CONTACT WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG COVER OCCUR.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL NEW ENERGY ABSORBING AIR BAG MOUNTING BRACKETS. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JULY 23, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT DAEWOO AT 1-877-362-1234, SELECTION 1.
