2010 Chevrolet SILVERADO 1500: complaints, problems and recalls

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPARE TIRE WAS 17 INCHES AND ALL THE OTHER TIRES WERE 18 INCHES. THE MANUAL INDICATED THAT A 4 WHEEL DRIVE SHOULD NOT BE USED WHEN THE SPARE WAS ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT WHEN THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE WAS ENGAGED WITH A SPARE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 1,500.

BRAKES ON MY 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO TRUCK ARE SPONGY AND DO NOT ADEQUATELY STOP THE VEHICLE RESULTING IN SEVERAL NEAR MISS COLLISIONS. THE PROBLEM HAS BECOME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. MY VEHICLE HAS 111,000 MILES AND I HAVE REPLACED THE REAR BRAKE PADS DUE TO ACCELERATED WEAR WITHOUT A SIMILAR SITUATION ON THE FRONT BRAKE PADS. TIRE TREAD IS FALLING APART. HUNKS AND PIECES ARE MISSING FROM TREAD ALL 4 TIRE. THESE ARE GENERAL AMERITRAC TIRE FROM THE DEALERSHIP ON MY 2010 CHEVY SILVERADO. DEALER WILL COMP THEM BUT OUR FLEET IS FULL OF THESE TIRES DOING THIS. TIRES LOOK ALMOST LIKE RETREADS. SIZE IS P245/70R17. 13,600 MILES ON THEM. SAFETY ISSUE WITH 2010 GMC/CHEVROLET 1500 PICKUPS WITH 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THE ISSUE INVOLVES DRIVING ONE OF THESE VEHICLES WITH THE TOW/HAUL MODE TURNED ON. IF GOING DOWN A HILL AT 55 TO 65 MILES PER HOUR, ACTUALLY ANY SPEED, BY LAYING YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL HARD JUST HARD ENOUGH TO TURN ON BRAKE LIGHTS THESE VEHICLES WILL BEGIN DOWNSHIFTING. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET SILVERADO C1500. HIS FINGER BECAME LODGED IN A HOLE INSIDE THE BED OF THE TRUCK. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED HE ENTERED THE VEHICLE FROM THE SIDE STEPPING ON THE REAR TIRE AND PLACING HIS HAND ON THE BED RAIL AND CUT HIS FINGER. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 375.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE TRAVELING 15-20 MPH THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD SUDDENLY BEGAN TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT A WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SOLENOID NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 6300.

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2007-2011 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, Yukon XL, and 2009-2011 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, Silverado 3500, GMC Sierra 2500 and Sierra 3500 vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in the states of Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan), and the U.S. Virgin Islands or "Zone A." Additionally, GM is recalling certain 2007-2008 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, Yukon XL vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in the states of Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia or "Zone B." These vehicles are equipped with non-desiccated passenger frontal inflators containing phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) propellant. These inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.

Consequence: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflator with an alternate one, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed on February 22, 2021. Second notification letters will be mailed once the remedy is available. Owner notification letters were mailed on March 1, 2021.
