ON 2 OCCASIONS WITHIN THE LAST 6 MONTHS, I HAVE HAD 2 TIRES ON MY 2000 CHEVROLET EXPRESS TRUCK FAIL DUE TO TREAD SEPARATION.THE TIRE IS THE "GENERAL AMERI 550 AS" WITH THE TIRE DOT STAMP OF "AD1L D7A 309". THE GENERAL AMERI 550 WAS THE TIRE THAT FORD LATER PULLED AS THE RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT TO THE FIRESTONE TIRES. MY TRUCK WAS PURCHASED IN 2002 WITH <100 MILES. NOW HAS 23930. MANY DEATHS HAVE BEEN CONTRIBUTED TO THIS TIRE MADE IN THE SAME TIME FRAME.*AK

INSIDE COURTESY LIGHTS WOULD NOT COME ON WHEN OPENING DOORS. ALSO, BOTH EXTERIOR POWER MIRRORS DO NOT OPERATE. VEHICLE BEEN TO DEALER ON SIX OCCASIONS, AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO LOCATE THE CAUSE. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK

WHEN APPLYING BRAKES IN DRY WEATHER VAN PULLS TO LEFT. WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED IN RAINY WEATHER, FRONT LEFT BRAKE LOCKS UP, AND ABS STARTS CHATTERING. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR THE LAST 5 MONTHS. VAN WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP. BRAKE PADS/ CALIPERS/ ROTORS AND BRAKE HOSES WERE REPLACED. VAN STILLS PULLS TO LEFT. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK

CERTAIN PICKUP TRUCK, VAN, AND MINI VAN CONVERSIONS EQUIPPED WITH SOUTHERN COMFORT BUILT RUNNING BOARDS THAT CONTAIN CERTAIN COURTESY LIGHTS MANUFACTURED BY AMERICAN TECHNOLOGY COMPONENTS, INC. THESE UNITS CONTAIN A COURTESY LIGHT OR LIGHTS THAT MIGHT OVERHEAT WHEN THE WIRE HARNESS IS EXPOSED TO EXCESSIVE MOISTURE AND ROAD SALT.

Consequence: THIS OVERHEATING CONDITION CAN CAUSE THE RUNNING BOARD TO MELT OR CAUSE A FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE WIRING HARNESS ON THESE RUNNING BOARDS. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MARCH 7, 2003. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT SOUTHERN COMFORT AT 1-800-745-6096.
