WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OR DRIVEN THE CONSUMER SMELLED FUMES. THE CONSUMER HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT THE PROBLEM HAD NOT BEEN RESOLVED. *AK THERE WAS A ROTTEN EGG SMELL. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS REPLACED 3 TO 4 TIMES AND THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE RUSTED. THE CONSUMER'S WIFE ALREADY HAD A HEALTH CONDITION BUT DUE TO THE FUMES, SHE WOULD EXPERIENCE AN ALLERGIC REACTION TO THE SULFUR AND SULFA BASED PRODUCTS. (HEADACHES, NAUSEA, AND VOMITING) *SCC *JB

99V301000 · Steering:Linkages:Tie Rod Assembly
Reported: 1999-10-29 (October 29, 1999)
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE INNER TIE ROD NUTS ARE LOOSE AND CAN RESULT IN SEPARATION OF A TIE ROD.
Consequence: SEPARATION OF A TIE ROD CAN CAUSE UNEXPECTED STEERING INPUT INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL CHECK AND ADJUST THE VEHICLE TOE-IN AND TIGHTEN THE INNER TIE ROD NUTS TO THE SPECIFIED TORQUE.
