Owner report 11482564 · 2022-09-02 (September 2, 2022)

Took new bike to dealer. A “extra” valve keeper was found in oil. Dealer tore engine apart and found all valve keeps in place. If the extra part in engine woulda cause engine to fail at Highway speeds dead coulda happened. I’ve called bam corporate and the case manager has not called me back. I can’t get beyond “customer service”

Owner report 11489273 · 2022-10-14 (October 14, 2022)

Bike was serviced at Bmw Temecula and the dealer found a valve keep on magnet plug. Engine was “checked” to and all valve keepers were supposedly in place. So that means extra valve keeper was a manufacturer error. This could have locked up engine and killed me. Have asked for assistance from Bmw but have been shut down by them.

Owner report 11519370 · 2023-04-28 (April 28, 2023)

The bike surges at about 6,000 rpm. Have had it to dealer 5 times total and they can’t find issue. I’ve offered to take bike to a dyno so I can reproduce issue. But Mark Pechko from Bmw North America won’t let dealers do that. Causes hand slipping on throttle. Attached is link to TikTok where I preform issue over and over in a safe manner and with in the law. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRToHTKV/

Owner report 11729383 · 2026-04-06 (April 6, 2026)

This motorcycle has had a history of stalling while riding, this issue has persisted through two "repairs" that the dealership deemed safe. It stalled on the way back from retrieving the motorcycle from the supposed repair and put me in a life threatening scenario when the motorcycle stalled in traffic in front of a diesel in a construction zone without any available shoulders. The error that displays on the motorcycle is a yellow "Fault in engine" error that forces me hold in the clutch to turn off the motorcycle, go to first gear, turn the mo…

Recall history

2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

22V752000 · Power Train:Clutch Assembly

Reported: 2022-10-07 (October 7, 2022)

BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2022 S1000RR, M1000RR, and 2022-2023 S1000XR and S1000R motorcycles. The clutch cover bolts were not lubricated properly, which may cause the clutch cover to become loose and leak oil.

Consequence: An oil leak occurring at the clutch cover increases the risk of a crash or fire.

Remedy: Dealers will replace all 10 clutch cover bolts, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 6, 2022. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

26V478000 · Electrical System:Ignition

Reported: 2026-07-23 (July 23, 2026)

BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2024 S 1000 RR US, and 2020-2026 S 1000 RR motorcycles. The vibration of the motorcycle may cause an internal component of the ignition lock to fail, which can cause the instrument display, rear lighting, and other systems such as ABS to fail, or cause an engine stall while riding.

Consequence: An engine stall or failure of electrical systems such as the instrument display or ABS, increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: The remedy is currently under development. Letters informing owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed September 14, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning September 14, 2026.
