Owner report 10621105 · 2014-08-09 (August 9, 2014)

ON 7/9/14, I BACKED OUR NEW 435I UP TO OUR GARAGE (OUTSIDE FOR THE NIGHT). THE GARAGE DOOR WAS OPEN, AND THE WARNING SYSTEM LET ME KNOW THAT I WAS CLOSE TO OUR LAWNMOWER. ONCE I WAS CLOSE ENOUGH, I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE TO STRAIGHTEN OUT THE CAR, AND IMMEDIATELY THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE TO FULL SPEED. I WAS ALREADY ON THE FOOT BREAK, BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT RESPOND. OUR DRIVEWAY IS CONCRETE AND QUITE SLICK. THE REAR TIRE SPUN UNCONTROLLABLY, CREATED A CLOUD OF SMOKE, AND LEFT A PILE OF TIRE DEBRIS BEHIND THE VEHICLE. I HIT THE KIL…

Owner report 10692057 · 2015-03-04 (March 4, 2015)

THERE IS A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW ON THE BMW 435I 2014 TO PEOPLE WHO LIVE WHERE THERE IS RAIN. I WAS PULLING INTO THE PARKING LOT OF MY COMPANY AND THERE WAS A PUDDLE FROM THE RAN MAYBE 5-6" (NOT ENOUGH TO PENETRATE THE DOORS AND WET THE INSIDE) . I DROVE THROUGH THE PUDDLE AND THE ENGINE HYDROLOCKED CAUSING THE ENGINE TO HAVE TO BE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THE CAR IS LOW TO THE GROUND AND THAT THE AIR INTAKE IS ON THE FRONT GRILL AT THE BOTTOM. WITH THIS CAR BEING LOW, HOW CAN ANYONE DRIVE IN RAIN IN AN AREA WHERE W…

Owner report 10730550 · 2015-06-26 (June 26, 2015)

ON TWO OCCASIONS, JANUARY 2015 AND MAY 2015 MY 435I STOPPED WHILE I WAS DRIVING WITHOUT ANY WARNING WHATSOEVER. THE FIRST TIME I WAS CROSSING A VERY BUSY 3 LANE NORTHBOUND ROAD TO GET TO THE LEFT TURN LANE WHEN WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE CAR JUST STOPPED. THEY WAS NO ENGINE LIGHT ON DASH. I WAS LUCKY THAT I WAS NOT HIT AS I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BRAKE, TO INDICATE TO DRIVERS BEHIND ME THAT I WAS SLOWING DOWN. THE LIGHTS, CHASSIS STABILIZATION AND DRIVETRAIN MALFUNCTION CAME ON THE DASH. TWO PRETTY SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITHOUT ANY …

I PUSHED DOWN MY CLUTCH (MANUAL TRANSMISSION) AND WAS ABLE TO ROLL ONTO THE LEFT SHOULDER. HAD TO BE TOWED TO NEAREST BMW DEALER. I WAS DRIVING IN A CITY RESIDENTIAL AREA, GOING ABOUT 35 MPH WHEN THE CAR STOPPED AFTER SPUTTERING A COUPLE OF TIMES. NO WARNING AT ALL BUT THERE WAS A MESSAGE ON THE DASH, "DRIVE TRAIN MALFUNCTION". I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, A GRASSY AREA JUST BARELY OFF THE PAVED ROAD. IT WAS LOCATED ON A CURVE. AT THE TIME, THERE WAS A THUNDERSTORM WITH LIGHTNING AND HEAVY RAIN. WE WERE EXTREMELY LUCKY THAT THAT THE CAR WAS NOT HIT BY TRAFFIC COMING UP BEHIND ME. BMW MECHANICS REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP.
