Owner report 10730550 · 2015-06-26 (June 26, 2015)
ON TWO OCCASIONS, JANUARY 2015 AND MAY 2015 MY 435I STOPPED WHILE I WAS DRIVING WITHOUT ANY WARNING WHATSOEVER. THE FIRST TIME I WAS CROSSING A VERY BUSY 3 LANE NORTHBOUND ROAD TO GET TO THE LEFT TURN LANE WHEN WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE CAR JUST STOPPED. THEY WAS NO ENGINE LIGHT ON DASH. I WAS LUCKY THAT I WAS NOT HIT AS I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BRAKE, TO INDICATE TO DRIVERS BEHIND ME THAT I WAS SLOWING DOWN. THE LIGHTS, CHASSIS STABILIZATION AND DRIVETRAIN MALFUNCTION CAME ON THE DASH. TWO PRETTY SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITHOUT ANY …

I PUSHED DOWN MY CLUTCH (MANUAL TRANSMISSION) AND WAS ABLE TO ROLL ONTO THE LEFT SHOULDER. HAD TO BE TOWED TO NEAREST BMW DEALER. WITH ONLY 14,500 MILES THE BRAKE ROTORS ARE SCORED AND STOP DISTANCE HAS INCREASED SUBSTANTIALLY. BRAKES ALSO VERY NOISY. DEALER HAS TOLD ME BECAUSE OF HIGH CARBON STEEL IN THE ROTORS, THEY RUST EASILY AND ARE PRONE TO SCORING IF NOT DRIVEN EVERY DAY.

Owner report 11685069 · 2025-09-04 (September 4, 2025)
I am submitting this complaint regarding a 2015 BMW 435xi (N55 engine, ~79,000 miles) that suffered a sudden and complete engine failure due to the oil pump drive chain. While driving at highway speed, the vehicle experienced an instant loss of oil pressure and engine seizure without any warning lights or prior symptoms. I barely managed to steer the car to the shoulder and avoid being struck by surrounding traffic. This was a serious safety hazard, as the loss of power and steering control occurred in active highway conditions. Inspection re…
