2007 Audi A4: complaints, problems and recalls

I HAVE PICKED UP A NEW AUDI A4 JANUARY 3,2007. IT HAS BEEN 4 WEEKS AND I NEED TO REPLACE 3 TIRES. ONE WAS BLOWN FROM A POTHOLE...THE OTHER ONE WENT FLAT AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AROUND 80 MPH FOR ABOUT 15 MILES ON IT. THE OTHER DEVELOPED A BUBBLE ON THE SIDEWALL. PIRELLI TOLD ME TO SEND THE TIRE IN FOR EVALUATION, WE WILL HAVE AN ANSWER TO YOU IN ABOUT 4 TO 8 WEEKS. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO FOR A SPARE TIRE? PIRELLI QUOTES, I DON'T KNOW. WHAT A JOKE!!! AUDI 2.0T 2007 (2 MOS OLD)- AFTER ACCELERATING TO MERGE ONTO THE INTERSTATE, MY CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AFTER RELEASE OF THE GAS PEDAL AND THE RPMS CONTINUED TO INCREASE. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE, THE CAR JERKED BACK AND FORTH AND REQUIRED FORCEFUL BREAKING TO DECREASE THE SPEED. I WAS ABLE TO PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND PULL OFF THE INTERSTATE. WE'VE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL INCIDENTS OF THE ENGINE SEMI-STALLING. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT VARYING SPEEDS. WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE HESITATES AS IF SOMEONE HAS SUDDENLY STEPPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS OCCURRED WHILE THE CAR WAS ENGAGED IN CRUISE CONTRAL AND NORMAL DRIVING.

A YOUNG LADY PURCHASED AN AUDI A4, TWO OF THE SUPPLIED TIRES DEVELOPED BUBBLES IN LESS THAN 1 YEAR. SHE RETURNED TO THE DEALER, WHO REFUSED TO REPLACE THEM. SHE THEN HAD THE TIRES REPLACED AT A DISCOUNT TIRE DEALERSHIP AT HER EXPENSE. THE SUPPLIED TIRES ON HER AUDI WERE CONTINENTAL BRAND, SIZE2354517. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 AUDI A4. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT REMOVED HER FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND APPLIED THE BRAKES; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. SHE PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AFTER FIVE MINUTES AND THE ENGINE BEGAN TO REV WHILE IN PARK. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS PRESENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 8,000.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 AUDI A4. THE VEHICLE HAS CONTINENTAL CONTI PRO CONTACT, SIZE 235/45R17 94H TIRES. DURING A TIRE ROTATION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES HAD A BULGE. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE TIRES COULD NOT BE ROTATED BECAUSE OF THE BULGES AND COULD CAUSE A BLOWOUT. THE TIRES ARE BEING REPLACED AT THE COST OF $654. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED TO TAKE A COMPLAINT (CLAIM NUMBER 5071636334) BECAUSE THE TIRES WERE A RESULT OF ROAD HAZARD. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2004-2008 Audi A4, and 2005-2011 Audi A6 vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan), and the U.S. Virgin Islands, or "Zone A." Additionally, unless included in "Zone A" above, Volkswagen is recalling certain model year 2004-2008 Audi A4, and 2005-2008 Audi A6 vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia, or "Zone B." Lastly, unless included in "Zone A" or "Zone B" above, Volkswagen is recalling model year 2004 Audi A4 vehicles originally sold, or registered, in Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the front air bags, these inflators may rupture due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to absolute humidity and temperature cycling.

Consequence: An inflator rupture may result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants resulting in serious injury or death.

Remedy: Audi will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 28, 2017. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-822-2834.

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2005-2008 Audi A4 Sedan, A4 Avant, S4 Avant and S4 Sedan, 2007-2008 RS4 Sedan, 2004 RS4 Cabriolet, 2007-2009 A4 Cabriolet and S4 Cabriolet, 2005-2011 A6 Sedan, 2006-2011 A6 Avant, and 2007-2011 S6 Sedan vehicles. These vehicles are equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled as part of the passenger frontal air bag modules used as original equipment or replacement equipment. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger frontal air bag, these inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to absolute humidity and temperature cycling.

Consequence: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.

Remedy: Audi has notified owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag with an alternate remedy part, free of charge. The recall began June 29, 2018. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 69R7. Note: This recall supersedes recalls 16V382, 17V032 and 18V004 and includes vehicles that may have had their air bag previously replaced under one of those campaigns.
