DT: MOTORCYCLE'S HANDLE BARS CRACKED TWICE, ALSO, GAS TANK CRACKED TWICE, THE REAR SUSPENSION BROKE TWICE. THE LAST TIME THE MOTORCYCLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THIS HAS HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING. TAKEN TO DEALER, AND THEY FIXED IT, BUT IT RECURRED. MANUFACTURER WILL NOT GIVE CALLER WRITTEN INFORMATION ON THE PROBLEMS. THEY WILL NOT RETURN HIS CALLS. CALLER HAS OWNED TWO OF THESE MOTORCYCLES AND THE PROBLEMS HAVE HAPPENED TO BOTH OF THEM. THE FIRST ONE HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS THAT HE RETURNED IT AN GOT A NEW ONE THAT HAD PROBLEMS OF ITS OWN. H…

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 AMERICAN IRONHORSE SLAMMER. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED A CRACK IN THE HANDLE BAR. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD BE UNABLE TO REPAIR IT AND ADVISED HIM TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 5,400 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,900.

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES EQUIPPED WITH OPTIONAL BRAKE ROTOR-CARRIERS,THE ROTOR-CARRIERS CAN CRACK WHILE IN SERVICE AND POSSIBLY BREAK.
Consequence: THIS CAN CAUSE A PARTIAL LOSS OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM OR THE POTENTIAL FOR ROTOR-CARRIER DETACHMENT, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE ROTOR-CARRIER ASSEMBLY. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JANUARY 26, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT AMERICAN IRONHORSE AT 1-817-665-2045.
