Owner report 10947097 · 2017-01-23 (January 23, 2017)

WHEN DOWNSHIFTING FROM 3RD GEAR, THE TRANSMISSION FREQUENTLY BYPASSES 2ND GEAR AND GOES INTO NEUTRAL. THIS IS TRUE NEUTRAL, NOT A FALSE NEUTRAL, AS THE NEUTRAL LIGHT COMES ON IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. SOME ONLINE RESEARCH INDICATES THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH TRIUMPH TROPHY AND TIGER 1200CC MODELS AS EVIDENT BY THESE TWO USER GROUP THREADS: HTTP://WWW.TIGER-EXPLORER.COM/INDEX.PHP?TOPIC=8177.0 HTTP://WWW.TRIUMPH-TROPHY.COM/INDEX.PHP/TOPIC,4740.8.HTML THIS SITUATION IS VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD LEAD TO LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE MOTORCYCLE. THIS SITUATION IS VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD LEAD TO LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE MOTORCYCLE. WHEN DOWNSHIFTING FROM 3RD GEAR, THE EXPECTATION IS THE MOTORCYCLE WILL BE IN 2ND GEAR WHEN THE CLUTCH IS RELEASED. WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURS, A LOSS OF CONTROL CAN OCCUR WHEN THE MOTORCYCLE DOES NOT SLOW AS EXPECTED, POTENTIALLY LEADING A RIDER TO OVERSHOOT A COR…

Owner report 11218186 · 2019-06-05 (June 5, 2019)

I WAS BACKING UP MY MOTORCYCLE (WHILE IT WAS RUNNING) AND AS I TURNED THE HANDLEBARS TO THE RIGHT, ALL ELECTRICAL SHUT OFF (THE ENGINE INCLUDED). THIS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN EVERY TIME I TURNED THE HANDLEBARS TO THE RIGHT, AND GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE, FROM ONLY HAPPENING WHEN TURNING FULL RIGHT TO BARELY TO THE RIGHT OF CENTER, BUT I WAS ABLE TO MAKE THE RIDE HOME, ABOUT 100 MILES, AS LONG AS I DIDN'T MAKE A RIGHT TURN! FORTUNATELY, ON A MOTORCYCLE, MOST TURNS CAN BE MADE BY LEANING THE BIKE. ANYWAY, THE PROBLEM TURNS OUT TO BE THE WIRING COMING…

Owner report 11266466 · 2019-10-05 (October 5, 2019)

EARLIER TODAY I WAS RIDING MY 2017 TRIUMPH TROPHY SE MOTORCYCLE ON A CITY STREET WHEN THE BIKE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF COMPLETELY IN THE MIDDLE OF A LEFT TURN. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND DISCOVERED THAT THE ENGINE AND ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS WOULD SHUT OF WHENEVER THE HANDLE BARS WERE TURNED TO THE LEFT. IT ACTS EXACTLY AS THOUGH I HAD TURNED THE IGNITION KEY TO THE OFF POSITION. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. IF A CAR HAD BEEN BEHIND ME WHEN THIS HAPPENED, IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I CALLED M…

Owner report 11118286 · 2018-08-07 (August 7, 2018)

I WAS RIDING MY 2017 TRIUMPH TROPHY SE MOTORCYCLE ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE PIVOT BOLT THAT HOLDS THE GEAR SHIFT PEDAL TO THE BODY OF THE MOTORCYCLE SHEARED OFF. AS A RESULT I WAS STUCK IN FIFTH GEAR. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR A MOTORCYCLIST SINCE THERE IS NO WAY TO SLOW THE BIKE DOWN AND THEN ACCELERATE SMOOTHLY FROM LOW SPEED OR STOP. OBVIOUSLY BEING STUCK IN ANY GEAR IS DANGEROUS AND COULD EASILY RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. MY MOTORCYCLE WAS BOUGHT NEW ABOUT 7 MONTHS AGO, HAD ABOUT 6,000 MILES OF USE, AND HAD NEVER BEEN DAMAGED IN…
