CLUNKING NOISE HEARD DURING VEHICLE OPERATION OVER ROADWAY BUMPS OR APPLICATION OF BRAKES. INSPECTED TO FIND FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM BOLT MISSING FROM DRIVERSIDE SUBFRAME AND EVIDENCE OF CORROSION. THIS BOLT IS LOCATED AT THE REAR OF THIS CONTROL ARM AND PASSES THROUGH THE SUBFRAME. BOLT HEAD AND PORTION OF SHANK WAS MISSING DUE TO CORROSION AND FATIGUE FAILURE. LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS LOOSE, POSING AN UNSAFE OPERATION CONDITION. TOYOTA HAS AN EXISTING TSB ON THIS ISSUE BUT DEALER STATED THAT TSB REPAIR TIMEFRAME IS PAST DUE SO THIS REPAIR W…

Owner report 10445040 · 2012-01-24 (January 24, 2012)
ABS AND EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT INDICATORS TURNED ON AND STAYED ON. BROUGHT CAR INTO MECHANIC, TOLD CODE C0215 WAS SHOWN - REAR SPEED SENSOR LH CIRCUIT - AND THAT TOYOTA HAS ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB) AS THIS IS APPARENTLY A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE 2007-2008 YARIS. (FOR REFERENCE SEE: T-SB-0120-08) COST TO FIX BOTH RIGHT AND LEFT SENSORS (LEFT IS CURRENTLY FAILED, MECHANIC SAYS ACCORDING TO THE TSB IT IS LIKELY THE RIGHT SIDE WILL FAIL SOON AS WELL SO CONSIDER FIXING BOTH) IS APPROX $1600 !!! (THIS INCLUDES COST TO REPLACE THE…

WE HAVE 25 2007 TOYOTA YARIS'S, 14 OF 25 THE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON. THE LIGHT COMES ON AT APPROX 120,000 BECAUSE OF A SWITCH IN THE STEERING COLUMN, TOYOTA DECLINES TO REPAIR IT, AND WILL NOT GIVE US A STRAIGHT ANSWER WHETHER IT WILL KEEP THE SAFETY DEVICE (AIR BAG) FROM DEPLOYING EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. *TT

Owner report 11221667 · 2019-06-21 (June 21, 2019)
P/S DASHBOARD RED LIGHT CAME ON WITH SUDDEN LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST WHILE TURNING AND DRIVING. LUCKILY THE CAR IS LIGHT, BUT I COULD HAVE EASILY HIT AN OBJECT, HAD IT HAPPENED IN A DIFFERENT LOCATION OR AT A DIFFERENT SPEED. PROBLEM DISAPPEARED BY ITSELF. TWO WEEKS THEREAFTER, AN EXTREMELY STRONG BURNED ELECTRICAL CIRCUITRY SMELL SUDDENLY FILLED THE VICINITY OF THE CAR, COULD BE FELT FROM ABOUT 10 FEET AWAY, WHILE IDLING, WHILE STOPPED FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS WITH FRONT WHEELS TURNED TO THE RIGHT ABOUT HALF-WAY, AS I WAS CHECKING MY MAIL …

Owner report 10339750 · 2010-06-23 (June 23, 2010)
ON 6/1/10 MY 2007 TOYOTA YARIS WOULD NOT START AND AFTER A FEW TRIES I FOUND GAS POURING FROM THE AREA BELOW THE GAS TANK. THIS ONLY OCCURRED WHEN THE STARTER WAS RUNNING AND APPEARED TO COME FROM A LEAK BETWEEN THE FUEL PUMP AND THE ENGINE. I THEN CALLED LEXINGTON, MA TOYOTA AND THEY ARRANGED TO HAVE A TOW TRUCK PICK UP THE CAR AND TAKE IT TO THEIR GARAGE. TOYOTA THEN CALLED TO SAY THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A BREAK IN THE FUEL LINE FROM THE FUEL PUMP AND THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO ORDER THE PART AND IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT A WEEK BEFORE WE WOULD GET T…
