AUTOMATIC PARKING BRAKE ON CHEVROLET P30 CHASSIS 1994 THROUGH 1998 MOTORHOMES COMES ON WHILE IN FORWARD OR REVERSE UNEXPECTEDLY. THE BRAKES LOCK UP, STOPPING VEHICLE AT ANY TIME AND UNABLE TO MOVE. WHILE BACKING UP A STEEP HILL TRANSMISSION (FORD F53 SUPERDUTY MOTORHOME CHASSIS) OVERHEATED, TRANSMISSION FLUID APPARENTLY DISCHARGED FROM VENT ON FRONT/TOP OF TRANSMISSION THEN FALLING ONTO EXHAUST HEADER CROSSOVER PIPE IMMEDIATELY BELOW FRONT OF TRANSMISSION CAUSING A FIRE. FORTUNATELY, FIRE WAS DETECTED BY PERSON OUTSIDE OF THE MOTORHOME AND DRIVER WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY EXTINGUISH WITH A DRY CHEMICAL FIRE EXTINGUISHER.*AK

BATTERY DISCONNECT FAILED WHILE DRIVING OUR 20,200 POUND RV AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THE FAILURE RESULTED IN TOTAL LOSS OF CHASSIS POWER (ENGINE STOPPED, POWER STEERING CEASED, POWER STEERING CEASED, ALL DASH INDICATORS NON-OPERATIONAL, EMERGENCY FLASHER NON-OPERATIONAL, ETC.). THE FAILURE CAUSED US TO COAST TO A STOP AS THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE WE COULD DO. WHILE DRIVING, CONSUMER EXPERIENCED SHARP PULLING TO THE RIGHT IN THE STEERING, DEALER REMOVED THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL AND FOUND THE INSIDE BEARING WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED AND THE OUTSIDE BEARING SHOWED NO SIGNS OF HAVING BEEN GREASED AT THE TIME OF ASSEMBLY, THIS CAUSED THE ROTOR TO BE COMPLETELY DESTROYED BY THE WEARING OF THE BEARINGS ON THE OTHER PARTS, LEFT FRONT WHEEL WAS ALSO REMOVED AND SHOWED SIGNS OF MINIMAL GREASE. *SLC
