The contact owns a 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB 300 4MATIC. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH, there was an abnormal grinding sound coming from the rear of the vehicle, and the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that several unknown warnings illuminated. The MIL was illuminated, and the battery symbol was displayed. The messages “Reduced Drive System Performance" and "Towing not Permitted" were displayed. The accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond as needed and stalled. Owner report 11726005 · 2026-03-21 (March 21, 2026)

Mercedes previously issued a software update for the battery fire risk, but we have received a letter more than a year later stating that this fix was not adequate. We pursued a vehicle buyback due to the safety risk this presents to my family, and Mercedes vehemently stated that the issue was resolved and the vehicle did not qualify. The vehicle is an inherent risk to my family's safety if it may just catch fire at any time.
