The Component Affected: Electrical System / Drivetrain Propulsion. The Core Hazard: Systemic software/hardware defect causing a total failure of the 12V auxiliary system, resulting in immediate vehicle blackouts and leaving the vehicle stranded without warning. This a new 2026 electric car with an~80% charge in the traction battery. Unfortunately the 12 V battery failed after I got into the car and closed the car door. Nothing on the car worked including the door locks leaving me trapped. Fortunately I had my phone with me so I could call for assistance. I shudder to think if I had not or if my grand kids had been playing in the car while we weren’t around. .
