Owner report 11452793 · 2022-02-18 (February 18, 2022)

We had just received our Sorento back from being in the shop for 4 months due to being in an accident. Part of the repair work was to have the software updated and reprogrammed at a Kia dealership, which was completed. We picked up the car on Tuesday, Feb 15, 2022, and on Wednesday, Feb. 16, as we were traveling down hwy 27 in Lake Wales, FL, the alert began to ding and the hybrid warning came on, as well as other lights (I can't remember which ones). The car lost acceleration capability, but as we slowed and turned down another road, the car b…

Owner report 11621452 · 2024-10-23 (October 23, 2024)

The vehicle's oil was changed at Transitowne Kia of West Seneca, NY on 10/19/24 with 19,576 on the odometer. During the oil change, a Kia multi-point inspection was performed. No leaks or other concerns were found. On [XXX] with around 19,596 on the odometer while driving on [XXX] the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of power accompanied by grinding noises coming from the engine. This was followed by the check engine light flashing and the low oil indicator illuminating. I pulled over and found that a massive amount of oil was rapidly pouring …

Owner report 11597574 · 2024-06-28 (June 28, 2024)

This is the third time my car has had code p0171 and p0191 pop into the system of the car. I just picked up my car on [XXX] and after I left the parking lot it didn't feel right. I had to press the gas pedal a lot harder to get it to move. This is after they replaced the high pressure fuel pump twice within a week and I believe under 200 miles of driving the car. Luckily Florida is a pretty flat state so the hill I have between my work and home isn't very steep but I go from 40 mphs down to 30 once I reach the top of it. I'm supposed to be…

Owner report 11658457 · 2025-05-02 (May 2, 2025)

Critical Issue: Gasoline leaks into engine. That causes increasing engine oil level significantly and mixed with engine oil. I dropped off me car (mileage: 11731) at Kia Pro in Glendale, CA on 5/1/2025 as soon as I confirmed that engine oil level exceeds the maximum (twice of max) and smelled Gasoline from the dipstick. The service advisor and a tech confirmed that the excessive engine oil level and gasoline smell. However, they refused to repair it under warranty because they don't see any physical leaks and error codes. In addition to that, t…

Owner report 11570398 · 2024-02-06 (February 6, 2024)

While attempting to merge into 70mph traffic on the interstate, the vehicle suddenly lost all acceleration capabilities. I could have been in an accident due to the sudden loss of acceleration and eventual power to the engine. When I pressed on the gas pedal, there was no resistance and the pedal went all the way to the floor. The vehicle slowly accelerated on it's own from 20MPH to 55MPH without my pressing the accelerator. There were no warnings on the dash at this time. Once it reached 55MPH, it slowly began to decrease it's speed wit…

Owner report 11611411 · 2024-08-28 (August 28, 2024)

I was driving on the highway about 60mph, I go to accelerate and merge to the exit lane since that lane funnels another previous merge lane. I press the gas and the gauge stayed frozen at 60mph then a violent loud clunk came from the floor like as if the transmission gear got stuck and then slipped in. After parking at the store the hybrid inverter coolant refill warning came on the dash. I drove back home to get fluid 2 miles from home the vehicle lost all power. The issue is search through the internet I’m seeing many many kia sorentos hybrid…

Owner report 11559412 · 2023-12-11 (December 11, 2023)

There is a loud squeaking sound that sounds like a rodent or bird that occurs intermittently at cold temperatures from the steering column. It has been mentioned in several forums and Facebook communities. Some dealers are aware, others are not. The repair requires a steering column replacement according to those who have had service completed. Dealers are requiring they directly hear the issue despite recorded video proof. I have a copy of my issue in hand.
