I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WITH THE LANE KEEP ASSIST AND ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED.THE SYSTEM WORKED FINE FOR A WHILE BUT WHEN I TOOK MY EYES OFF THE ROAD FOR A QUICK MINUTE TO GRAB SOMETHING FROM THE BACK SEAT, THE SYSTEM EITHER DISENGAGED WITHOUT A WARANING OR DECIDED TO STEER TO THE LEFT OUTOF THE LANE, BECAUSE IN THAT SHORT TIME, IT MOVED TWO LANES TO THE LEFT AND HIT THE ROAD BARRIER DEPLOYING THE AIRBAGS AND CAUSING INJURIES TO THE PASSENGERS. While braking in parking lot with low speed and turning the steering wheel, all of sudden the vehicle reving up by itself and then accelerate forward uncontrollably.

The driver cluster in front of steering wheel constantly goes from blank to partial screen to proper driver display. I have video of this happening. The speed, turns signals, odometer and blind spot information cannot be seen during the blank and partial screen. The dealer has replicated the problem. I’m out of warranty so replacement will cost $8500. There were no issues up to the point where it failed.

The contact owns a 2022 Kia EV6. The contact stated that while driving approximately 64 MPH, the left side of the steering wheel seized, and the vehicle aggressively jerked to the left into oncoming traffic. The message “Smart Cruise Disabled” was displayed. The contact was able to quickly regain control of the vehicle. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 65,300.

Component/System Failure: The i-Pedal feature in the Kia EV6, designed for one-pedal driving through regenerative braking, consistently fails to stay engaged.
