THE BREAK-AWAY SWITCH ON OUR CAMPER HAD BEEN DISCONNECTED WHILE IN A CAMPGROUND FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS & CAUSED THE SWITCH TO MELT & THE INSULATION TO BURN OFF OF THE WIRES, ALONG WITH OTHER WIRES GOING INTO THE JUNTION BOX. THERE WAS GREAT POTENTIAL FOR A FIRE. THE SWITCH & WIRING IS UNDER-SIZED FOR THE APPLICATION & WILL NOT CARRY THE AMPERAGE THAT THE BRAKES DRAW. IT APPEARS THAT THE WIRES TO THE SWITCH WHICH ARE ABOUT 16 GAUGE ARE FED BY ABOUT A 10 GAUGE WIRE POWER SOURCE. LOGIC WOULD INDICATE THAT THESE WIRES SHOULD BE OF EQUAL SIZE AS T…

The contact owns a 2013 Keystone Sprinter equipped with the original Dometic Refrigerator, Model Number: DM2652RBX, Serial Number: 24595696. The contact stated that while parked and occupying in the RV, the contact discovered that the refrigerator was not cooling as intended, causing the food to spoil. The contact immediately unplugged the refrigerator, refilled the propane and the refrigerator failed to work as intended. The contact also stated that brakes for the trailer was inoperable. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 KEYSTONE SPRINTER FIFTH WHEEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH A LADDER THAT WAS MOUNTED ON THE REAR BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE SCREWS THAT WERE USED TO MOUNT THE LATER ENDED UP PENETRATING AN ELECTRICAL WIRE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THE PROBLEM WHEN HE TOUCHED THE LADDER AND FELT A SLIGHT SHOCK. AFTER FURTHER REVIEW, THE CONTACT FOUND OUT THAT THE LADDER HAD NOT BEEN GROUNDED PER ELECTRICAL CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS REPAIRED.
