Owner report 11508093 · 2023-02-19 (February 19, 2023)

I was in a head on collision with another car. None of my airbags deployed. The fire department and police department were concerned and shocked that they did not deploy. They cut the wiring to the battery for fear it would deploy late and I was injured in the car with a firefighter holding my neck. My car was a total loss.

We have been without service of the Grand Cherokee L vehicle for nearly 6 of the 11 weeks since we leased the vehicle. The four (4) incidents and ‘repair attempts’ to ‘fix’ the randomly/sudden occurring mechanical and electrical problems were inter-related and causal to the mechanical and electrical blackout troubles. 1.02/27/23 Purchase 2.03/20/23 631 total miles traveled. Dash board blackout. a.Service Dept “reset software”. 3.03/31/23 912 total miles traveled. Complete dashboard, radio and navigation blackout a.Service Dept did not experie…

Owner report 11514912 · 2023-04-01 (April 1, 2023)

There are multiple safety recalls for this vehicle that I have only had for 1 month. I began the new lease with this vehicle beginning of March and the vehicle has been back to the dealership 4 times already. Issue #1: The middle part of the steering wheel where the air bag is located came completely off the steering. It was dangling almost causing my boyfriend and I to get t-boned. Since the middle part of the steering wheel was dangling and me trying to turn the wire got caught in the steering wheel not allowing me turn. I was also very luc…

Owner report 11518169 · 2023-04-20 (April 20, 2023)

Crunk up the vehicle to leave work and power steering immediately went out, messages and warning lights saying lane departure and blind spot warning were unavailable. No issues prior to this. I drive it to work with no issues or warning lights. I had it towed to dealership because it was unable to be driven. Thank God I was just in a parking lot and not driving down the highway when this happened. It can cause a wreck, killing myself and or another person in the vehicle with me as well as other people involved in the crash. Dealership gave me t…

Owner report 11525541 · 2023-06-06 (June 6, 2023)

Incident #1 - Power steering issue. While exiting the driveway, I lost power steering along with unresponsive controls such as "lane management" and "traction control." Alert on dash read, "power steering unavailable," and engine light was on. After turning the vehicle off, power steering and other controls returned after about 20 minutes of occasionally turning the vehicle off and on again. Service was performed with a "software update." Incident #2 - About a month later, while driving on the road, I abruptly lost power steering and the abili…

Owner report 11560336 · 2023-12-15 (December 15, 2023)

Dashboard showed Transmission Error Message: Service Transmission Continue in D, Do Not Shift or Turn off Engine Until you Reach a Desired Location, You may not be able to shift again until serviced. Vehicle was stuck in 1st gear and would not shift out for 5 minutes. Taken to dealer with engine light on and shown pictures of error messages and dealer found nothing wrong with vehicle. This all happened on a highway and I had to navigate from high speeds to slow and stop in the exit lane.

Owner report 11557538 · 2023-11-29 (November 29, 2023)

My vehicle was stopped for several minutes on an upgrade, with stopped cars in front of me due to a traffic jam. I needed to keep pressure on the brake, lest my car roll backwards. After about three minutes, brake pedal lost pressure and my foot went to floor. The engine then went into gear and my car rammed car in front. Engine stalled on impact and was hard to restart. Vehicle currently at Jeep dealer awaiting inspection from Stellantis tech team. This situation reported to their customer care center. No warning lights appeared on dash prior…

Owner report 11542034 · 2023-09-01 (September 1, 2023)

As noted on the IIHS.org website, 2022 and 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee's built prior to April 2023 experienced a fuel tank rupture in the side impact test conducted by IIHS. Stellantis redesigned the underbody structure to correct this issue. This redesign was put in place on vehicles assembled after March 2023. IIHS originally tested a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee in October 2022 and identified the fuel tank rupture during the side impact test. However, IIHS did not post this information on their website until almost a year later when tests of the re…

Owner report 11676777 · 2025-07-28 (July 28, 2025)

I am reporting two major electrical-related failures in my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland that raise serious safety concerns. In February 2025, the vehicle experienced a sudden and complete battery failure with no warning. No lights or messages appeared. I was left stranded and had to tow the vehicle. The dealership found that one battery had completely failed and required replacement, while the second battery had to be recharged. No clear cause was identified. This raised concerns about a deeper electrical or charging system issue. On [XX…
