TL* THE CONTACT OWN A 2007 JAGUAR XJ8. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WITH AN IMMEDIATE REDUCTION IN THE ENGINE POWER. THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY STALLED AND WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED A FEW MOMENTS LATER AND RESUMED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOUR TIMES. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE MALFUNCTION. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLE…

SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE EPB ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE NOT DISENGAGING (ESPECIALLY IN THE XJ MODELS), THEREFORE, DEEMING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE THE CAR, AND BEING STRANDED WITH NO WAY TO DRIVE HOME OR ANYWHERE IN AN EMERGENCY. THIS ISSUE APPEARS TO BE ELECTRICAL IN NATURE, INVOLVING THE PARKING BRAKE MODULE. THIS ISSUE IS A PUBLISHED ISSUE IN COUNTLESS JAGUAR FORUMS AND THE NHTSA.
