The contact owns a 2027 Infiniti QX80. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, an abnormal fuel odor was present. The odor became stronger after the vehicle was parked. No warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel tank and evaporative emission control canister needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10.

I am filing this complaint regarding my replacement 2027 Infiniti QX80 Autograph, VIN [XXX]. My original new 2027 QX80 developed a strong raw gasoline/fuel-vapor odor shortly after purchase. I reported it to Infiniti of Scottsdale on XXX, one day after purchase. The dealer initially advised me to wait 4-5 days because the vehicle was new. The odor persisted, and the dealer later advised that the fuel tank and/or EVAP canister might need replacement. I filed NHTSA Case No. XXXfor that first vehicle.
